This CB forum doesn't have a (Biblical) History subforum! I had to toss up whether to post in the Bible Study or the Christianity & Science subforums.
There was one topic on Genesis 10 http://www.christianityboard.com/topic/14700-the-people-of-genesis-10/?hl=ashkenaz(& one topic on Ezekiel 38 http://www.christianityboard.com/topic/16873-the-biblical-principle-of-nations-identifying-the-ten-kingdoms-of-ezekiel-38/?hl=ashkenaz#entry170996 ) that i found in search, but i have my reasons for prefering to start a new topic/thread. (I was also debating whether to post it on CB or to post it in Apricity forum, but i felt i have to post it here not there even though i am angry at God for all suffering i still been going through (ongoing prayers still needed).)

We have for quite a few years wanted to solve the Table of 70/72 nations of Genesis 10. It has been a real tough cookie to crack, but we may have partially solved some of it. From my Arthurian 9 battle sites of "(King) Arthur" i had learnt that meanings of names can be important, and we found that the meanings of the names in Genesis 10 do seem important (this also fits with that Judaeo-Christians do say that every name in the bible has meaning/significance).

Our discovery is that the Japhethite names in Genesis seem to match European prehistory in chronological order. This agrees with the meaning of Japheth conveying/impling inventive/intellectual/creative thought/discoveries.
It fits with that the Ice Age is believed to have been the unstable climate for couple/few hundred years after the Flood.
Plus it fit with that Home erectus meat-eaters and Upper Palaeolithic hunters would be post-Flood since it is believed that Genesis implies meat eating post-Flood (and Nimrod was hunter).
Moses has therefore amazingly given us a prehistory of Europe that parallels/matches/corresponds with the evolutionist's scheme, except that it shows their dating is way-out/-off.

Is there also a history-repeating prophetic aspect too? Meshech which has an economic/commerce meaning and matches historical Wessex period international traders, may match the present global corporatist economic, in which case there is one last one (Tiras) coming? Or at least "Tubal and Meshech" in bible prophecy seems to be modern production and economic (similar to the last of the 7 churches the Laodiceans was a commercial & manuacturing centre).

We are a bit disappointed that we were not able to find names matches and to match Genesis 10 nations with modern/historical nations/haplo-groups. Though, there is also alot left to study/work-out/discover in regards haplogroups, Indo-European, etc.

One particularly great sub-discovery within the discovery is that (Tarshish-)Kittim matches the Atlanteans / Atlantis (South America / Tiahuanaco).
Of course all this is just a fulfilment of the prophecy that knowledge (esp of the bible) would increase in end times.
(Note: we already posted some/alot of this on our historum forum blog, but we were unfairly "suspended" ("banned") last year, and we have made a few more discoveries and we needed to post an abit more readible/understandible version, and get the answer out to people.)

One other related possible discovery is regarding the 3 "races"/types throughout biblical history as seen in this table (https://senatorspark.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/3-types-3.jpg). I seem to fit the Japheth column. The gospels and inri rows show that Jesus died for people of all 3 "races"/types [and of all 4 world ages & 4 quarters]. Each of the 3 types has their own good strengths/gifts. It is interesting that the gospels do seem to fit the types (eg Matthew to Jews has genealogy from Abraham to Jesus, Luke to greeks has from Adam to Jesus, Mark to Romans has none). Shem/Jews is/are especially blessed & "burdened" (eg Matthew to Jews has 9 more spiritual blesseds in sermon on mount, Luke to Greeks has 4 more material blesseds and 4 woes in sermon on mount, Mark to Romans has none). In some ways it seems almost as if Japheth was cursed not blessed (or at least less blessed & less "burdened" than Shem)? If the table is right then the 3 beasts of the composite beast in Revelation mean the beast is a world (time & space) power?
There seems to be some truth to "... warning the Japhethites that, unless they united with the Semites, they would certainly suffer at the hands of Ham's descendants...." (Hitler had North African in his genome?) Though it seems to be Japheth not Ham that are the major antichrist power in prophetic.

We have a new tentative possible discovery that the cities of Asshur in Genesis 10 may be cities of Indus Valley civilisation. Not sure about the exact correct cities matches (and some may be wrong as we haven't been able to check them all yet) but a couple/few things like the meaning of Rehoboth-Ir etc make the possible discovery seem likely.

4 cities of Asshur ~ 3 or 5 main cities of Indus?

Rehoboth-ir might be either Rakhigarhi or Dholavira or Mohenjo-daro? or Sarasvati?
Rehoboth-Ir means "openland" / "the streets of the city" / "broadplaces of the city" / "avenues of the city" / "wideplaces"/"streets"/"river".
- MD had "regularly laid out streets of the city" / "uniform grids of streets".
- MD was large, 40 ha or 250 ha / 618 acres size. Rakhigarhi was large site, 350 ha / 3.5 sq km.
- Mohenjo-Daro was on Indus river. Rakhigarhi & Ganwariwala was on the Ghaggar-Hakra.

Asshur might match the Asura(s) of Hindu myth. There was/is an Indian tribe called Asur.
Nimrod/Asshur went from Shinar to Asshur may better fit Sumer to Indus (contemporary with Sumerian) than from Sumer to Assyria (which did not become majorly prominent until after Moses wrote).

Nineveh might be Nindowari? or Ganeriwala??

Resen (between Nineveh & Calah) might be Desalpur (between Nindowari & Lothal)?
One meaning of Resen is "jaw (of crocodile)" which might possibly connect with the Rann of Cutch (Gujarat) area??
Or, Resen might be Ganeriwala equidistant between Harappa & MD?

Calah ("full age" / "old age") might be Kalibangan (earliest ploughed field, earliest earthquake)? or Ganeriwala in Cholastan? or Kerala? or Karachi? or Allahdino? or Hakra? or Miri Kalat?

My tentative provisional best guess so far is
1 Nineveh (abode of Ninus) ~ Mohenjo-Daro near Kot-asur.
2 Rehoboth-ir (broad/wide, river) ~ Rakhigarhi (350 ha) or Kalibangan?, or Dholavira? or RehmanDeri?
3 Calah (old) ~ Harappa (older than MD)
4 Resen (between Nineveh & Calah) ~ Ganeriwala (between Harappa & MD).

Looks like i chose to post it in the wrong forum and also in the wrong subforum, and that i have stupidly again not been able to write in way people can understand (i hate that i haven't been able to write up any of my discoveries in way anyone can understand/read, or maybe they aren't even discoveries since if i am so stupid).

A friend i emailed said "but haven't those Asshur 4 cities been discovered already [in Assyria]".

I think one or two of the Asshur sites (rehoboth-ir, resen?) have not been certainly found, and they are pretty late (Moses was 2nd half of 12th dynasty, Hammurabi was 13th dynasty), and not sure if the meanings match. But yes i could be wrong, or they could be namesakes. The meaning of Rehoboth, and the other things we mentioned make it seem pretty likely that the 4 Asshur cities are Indus cities.

p.s. to last 2 posts: Rehoboth-Ir can also mean public square of the town, and some think it is same as Nineveh (which gives 3 not 4 cities). So Rehoboth might be Mohenjo-daro and the public square might be the 'great bath' pubic bath at MD (and the 3 cities might match the 3 cities of Indus (MD, Ganeriwala, Harappa))? or Rehoboth could be Rakhigarhi and the public square could be the public granary there??

More possible confirmation that cities of Asshur of Genesis 10 match Indus Valley cities:

3/4 rivers Eden ~ 3/4 riverine civilisations (Egypt, Sumer, Indus)?:

1 Havilah ("sand, circle", gold) ~ Africa/Avaris/Aeria (Egypt)?
Pis(h)on ~ I(a)tur/Itru/Hapi/Phuro/Tritonis/Nile?
2 Cush ~ Babylonia (Nimrod)/Susa?
Gihon ~ Euphrates/Gihon?
3 Asshur ~ Asia/Asuras (India)?
Hiddekel/Tigris ~ Indus/Hindu/Sind?
(4 unnamed ~ India/Asia? China/Asia?
Euphrates/Ir ~ Sarasvati? Yellow river?)

(Not saying the pre-flood lands/rivers are those. The post flood riverine civilisations would be named after the preflood lands or vice-versa. (The 4 rivers of Eden match 4 world ages (whether they were or weren't real rivers).))

Dilmun
/ I(a(u))-tu-[ki]-ka/Ni-tuk(-ki[-ka]) ~ Hiddekel? Indus/Hindu?
/ Pu-land ~ Punt? Punjab?

(This land of Sargon 1 was seemingly in western/setting-sun sea, but the sun reversed directions a couple of times in history? So maybe Punt is India then.)

Dilmun does seem to match India/Indus maybe:

Inzak/Enzag/Enshag ~ Indra/Endzak?
Lahamun ~ Lakshmi?
Sabit/Siduri ~ Savitri?
Suluhitu ~ Sarasvati?
Urshanabi ~ Varuna/Uranus?
Ziusudra ~ Dyauspitar?

pps. Nineveh can mean "house/place of fish" which might match the great bath at Mohenjo-Daro.
Rehoboth-ir is looking like on the Sarasvati rather than on Indus.

Calah ~ Harappa?
Resen ~ Ganeriwala?
Nineveh ~ Mohenjo-daro?
Rehoboth ~ Rakhigarhi &/or on Sarasvati??

Asshur ~ Asura(s) [India]?
Hiddekel ~ Indus/Hindu?
Euphrates/Ir ~ Sarasvati??
