GINOLJC, to all. great topic. and speaking on what you just said, and here, "The Bible is undoubtedly filled with treasures". the treasures, the bible, is for us to "learn him" so that we can have great fellowship with him. and to do that, as one poster pointed out, is to study to show thyself approved unto God. agreed not to learn on your own, because we're not to lean unto our OWN understanding, but let the bible/his treasures be revealed unto us. see, studying tells God that you're interested in HIM, by this, his treasures/bible is open unto us. as children we're learning, some....... never able to come to the truth. but we all learn at different levels. to me the bible is exciting, because I'm learning all the time. example, knowing that the gentiles are to be brought in, a good example is found in Act chapter 10, not the conversion of capt. Cornelius, but the revealing of the thruth in God. why do I say this, because capt. Cornelius was already written in the book of life by God contain in his OT prophet writing according to Malachi. listen, Acts 10:1-4 "There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God". a memorial before God? yes, Malachi 3:16 "Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name".With the Lord, the Bible becomes another adventure with Him, as you allow Him to reveal Truth and Wisdom etc. all the way throughout it.
here, the Hebrew word for remembrance is,
H2146 זִכרוֹן zikrown (zik-rone') n-m.
a memento (or memorable thing, day or writing).
[from H2142]
KJV: memorial, record.
the KJV can translate this word remembrance as "memorial". and this is what the angel said to capt. Cornelius. Acts 10:4 "And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God".
see, studying God word reveals unto me, be devout unto God, the Lord Jesus. for he have written a book so that the records cannot be tamper with, or on hear say. and also what he have said in the very next verse of, Malachi 3:17 "And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him".
be blessed.
