Here is a subject that few speak of...and yet it is rather an important consideration when it comes to we who actively seek to advance with God.

Mal. 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

We see that there is a book of Remembrance...apart from either of the other books that record the saints and the righteous.

But who is written in it?

We know that there will be at least three books opened up on judgment day...and I see that number as being 3. (after careful consideration of course)

    Notice this...

Rev. 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

It says...books (plural) were opened, and ANOTHER book. That makes 3 books.

If we say...times and another time...that means 3 years. Nobody has trouble with that. But when it comes to something important...it seems that very few can understand the meaning of the word.

So what are the names of the 3 books?

    The Lamb's Book of Life
    The Book of Remembrance
    The Book of Life

But why a separate book for a people who would seem to fit into either the category of the saints...or at least the category of the righteous?

When God has established boundaries and categories that have a definite criteria, it is normal that human beings, being unpredictable, to fall between the cracks. But God is very merciful and has made a place for these....as He is not unrighteous to forget the efforts of His people...even a people who did not entirely measure up.

Hebrews 6:10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

I believe that this is the connection to be made to the book of Remembrance. To NOT FORGET is to remember after all. I have other proofs as well...

I am surprised not more is mentioned of the books. In Malachi, I see that those who fear and revere God are fellow shipping and worshiping Him? Then God made the Book of Remembrance...could this be a book of how the saints uplift and support and love each other? Our good deeds done in His name? Or, our obedience to Him? Good subject...I don't know a thing about this book, lol.

One of the main keys to unlocking the meaning of the book of Remembrance and who this might be speaking of is in this statement...

    And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels;

    "My jewels"....This is very telling.

In other references to the saints...we have gold and silver being used to represent the kind of purification these must pass through... but not reference to jewels.

    But we do have this..

    1 Cor. 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Even in the parallel proof text in 2 Tim 2:20 there is no mention of jewels or precious stones....

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Here we have just gold and silver...as per the normal reference to saints...like this

but the third shall be left therein.
Zech. 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

It says here...a third. (One of the three surviving eternal destinies.)

So then we can conclude that the precious stones do NOT receive the same honour as the gold and silver. But they are still on the good side...the side of rewards rather than losses.

So then in which resurrection and judgment is the book of remembrance opened?

Is it at the Bema judgment which is the judgment of the house of God?

Or is it at the GWT judgment where all nations will be judged?

What do we think of there being greatest and least in the kingdom?

Jesus said if we get even the smallest thing wrong...we will be called least in the kingdom.

Mat. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

What are these least commandments that don't lead to separation from God? IOW sins that don't lead to death.

I happen to believe all of the books will be opened at the same time. The Goats will be judged to be without Christ and the sheep will then be judged for reward. Bema seat just means, as I have been told, judgement seat or, alter...I do believe all will be judged at the same Seat of God/Jesus but, separately...as in Rev. 20 and 21. Okay, now where to go with this, lol.

To track this one must be very careful....one needs a framework. The idea of heaven and hell ...or just 2 eternal destinies is just like thinking the devil has a pitchfork and a tail. It is merely folklore.

But the dead in Christ will rise first. These will receive a new body...but they were always awake. These will be judged away from the world....actually a thousand years before. The saints will rule with Christ in the Millennial kingdom. I know not everybody believes in this.

But I think it is crucial to see that there is a different standard with the church than there is with the world.

Regeneration by the Spirit ensures we will NOT be judged along with the world after all. The GWT judgment is for the dead....not the saints of God.

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Those that are in Christ never die!

"What do we think of there being greatest and least in the kingdom?"

I think the greatest will be those who were fully sold out to the Lord, obedient to His leading and commands=those whom loved and trusted Him most? The least, maybe the Laodicean kind of Christian? I can't even imagine any person who goes to heaven, teaching others to break Gods law...seems like that person couldn't really be a Christian...I am probably not understanding well enough here to explain something I don't fully understand.
Then there is the "many and few stripes"...soooo much to learn.

"Jesus said if we get even the smallest thing wrong..."and shall teach men so,..."
Is Jesus speaking directly/indirectly to the Scribes/Sads/Phars? We have but 2 commandments to fulfill for the rest to be met through His Spirit of Love. I think He was trying to show that the Pharisees were NOT righteous and CANNOT fulfill the Law-of God (in which Jesus even raises the bar) as He requires perfection.

Okay, teach me. Convince me of something here, lol.

LOL! The Pharisees broke the main commandments. So they are not included in the kingdom of God. They rejected Christ.

No, the least are they who are trying indeed to follow Christ.

So then the main commandments... to love...to be merciful, to be humble.... these are non-negociable.

But what about those believers who judge others...like people in other religions? We are NOT to judge.

What of the righteous people in the world....that God sees as righteous...but we teach others that they are going to hell?

So then a possibility of breaking the least commandment...is to judge others...based on our own understanding of righteousness.

"But I think it is crucial to see that there is a different standard with the church than there is with the world."
Yes of course. The Church are the lambs and the world are the goats. The Church never gets judged for their sins! I def understand that-it is elementary dear Watson Christians will be judged unto "rewards".

"But the dead in Christ will rise first. These will receive a new body...but they were always awake."
You mean they were never dead spiritually, yes?
As far as the Millennium, another thread, lol.
So, I most certainly understand there is all the difference between the judgments of the saved and the unsaved.+-

Actually the sheep and goats are all in the world. That is the righteousness I was talking about that very very few understand.

Mat. 25 sheep/goats is about the GWT judgment....those who have never known Jesus but treated His followers (even the least) in either a good way or bad.

givers.giver and those who humle themselves.

This verse is about people who robbed God by not giving tithes and offerings. It also speaks against those who felt it was vain to serve God. After Malachi warned them they had a change of heart and their name was written in the book.

Yes, I agree. I see "the least" as needy and weak in Spirit but seeking God sincerely...maybe some very simple and trusting folk, who can be led astray easily?
