Greetings brothers,
Is the Earth a
circle or a
ball?
The following are just a handful of verses that give evidence to the truth of God.
What saith the Scripture?
Joshua 10:12-14
12 “Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel,
Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon, and thou Moon in the valley of Ajalon.”
*** In the context of scripture, there is a battle going on between the Amorites and the Isrealites. At one point, the LORD intervenes by casting down great stones from heaven to favor the Isrealites in the battle, which is one of the miracles that happened that day . Joshua then commands the sun and the moon to stand still. Furthermore, it says that Joshua spoke this in the sight of the Isrealites, therefore, there was witnesses to this account. Also, take notice of the words (stand) and (still); these two words can be found in Exodus 14:13 “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.”; This is right before Moses parts the sea.
13 “
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed,
until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher?
So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down,
about a whole day.”
***For the sun and the moon to stand still means that they rotate around the Earth, and not the way around. This was a super natural event that was worked by the LORD through Joshua. Notice, the sun stood still (in (inside) the (midst; middle, amongst, withing) of heaven; and that, (about a whole day), (until) the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Furthermore, the book of Jasher too bears testimony of this event.
14 “And there was no day like that, before it, or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.”
***This was a peculiar day.
"Is the Earth a ball, a circle, or round?"
Isaiah 22:18
“He will surely violently
turn and toss thee
like a
ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.”
***There is only one verse in the entire Bible that has the word (ball). Notice the word (like); it is a word used to compare the likeness/ similarities /resemblance /characteristics of one thing with another. The comparison here is that of a tumbleweed that travels across the barren and plain land. This is a prophesy that was foretold by the prophet regarding a man: that he would (turn) and (toss) like a (ball) into a large country. Without getting into the back story of this verse, the main focus here is the use of the words: (turn),(toss) and (ball); as you can see, the definition of a (ball) is clearly defined. The "alleged" heliocentric concept states that the Earth is a sphere/ globe/ oblate etc. or, in other words, it is an object that can (turn) and (toss) in space like a (ball). For now, it is only relevant to keep in remembrance this information.
"Now, what is a circle according to the scriptures?"
Isaiahs 40:22
"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:”
***This verse alone is filled with many key words. And also, the word (circle) is only found once in the Bible. And furthermore, both, the words (ball) and (circle) were written by the same author (Isaiahs). As we can see from the context of the verse, the LORD sits (upon), that is, up (above) and on (over) the (circle; arch/compass/vault) of the Earth. Genesis 7:6 gives a clear definition of the word (upon); “And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.” Furthermore, we, the inhabitants are described as grasshoppers, meaning, he (the LORD) looks down on us. Psalms 14:2 is a good cross reference: “The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.” As we can conclude, the word (circle) is not the same word as (ball).
"Now, is the Earth round?"
Genesis 19:4
“But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:”
***Notice the two words (compassed) and (round), they are synonymous; one strengthens the other. The back story of this verse is about Lot hosting two Angels, and the locals both (old and young) wanted to have their way with them, but Lot would not budge, so the locals (compassed) his house (round) about. Interestingly enough, we also get words like: around, surround and compass; which are also variations to the word (circle). In summary, neither the word (circle) nor the word (round) are synonymous to the word (ball).
"Out of the three words examined: (ball), (circle), and (round), only two gave a supportive answer. The words (circle) and (round) when combined together amplify the description of the Earth."
-May God bless you all.
