NASA would agree.

We live in an expanding universe. For example the moon moves about 1 1/2 inches farther away from earth every day. When Houston was doing the very precise trajectory to land man on the moon they needed a comprehensive and historical calculation to be able to place the Lunar module in the correct moon crater at the exact time.

They also used other planets and star positions to confirm the trajectory desired.

But there was a consistent and puzzling error that had them stumped.

That is until one of the engineers spoke up and mentioned the part in Joshua where the sun stood still for a day.

NASA modified calculations allowing for the one day and everything reconciled after that. I heard this from the lips of one of the astronauts speaking to a christian group.

Firstly, NASA at all times uses Geocentric (stationary Earth) maths when calculating anything. Infact if you ring up NASA and ask them whether they use Geocentric or Heliocentric math for their calculations.....they will give a little giggle and then proceed to tell you that infact the two are EXACTLY THE SAME. There is no difference in the two models. One has Earth at its centre and the other has the sun. Thats the only difference.

As for the moon landing. Well, sorry to break it to you....but that was a hoax. It never happened. Awakened people have known this for decades. If you want we can go into it in detail. It would certainly fit the topic title.

At this point I think it would be unfair not to tell you guys, that I've been through this discussion a coupla times on Christian forums. On my own thread I introduced the subject and had about 15 people up against me throwing proofs at me left right and centre. 15 pages later.....The opposition was down to one guy....and after I'd blasted all his science falsely so called out of the water he was left with one single argument. And that was........If the Earth was stationary.....then NASA would have seen it.....AND TOLD US!!

LOLZ>>>>

Please try to keep in mind that NASA is an executive branch of the US government. The entire organisation is horribly compartmentalized. No-one knows whats going on in NASA apart from the bigwigs at the top and a handful of astronauts. They make terrific rockets and other equipment like radar arrays and wotnot. They have amazing technicians and engineers working there. The best in their field 4sho. But that doesnt mean they know what happens to their gear once its been shot off into space.

The Chinese also record a long day at the time of Joshua.
All around the world history indicates that civilizations calendars went from 360 days a year to 365 .

My opinion of Mr Strangelove's position about the church and Galileo. Is that this church has painted its self into a corner. It claims to be infallible, it will never relinquish its decisions or position on the matter, to do so would indicate its human quality instead of its claim to be the single unerring voice of god on earth. In that, it is not the augment of the sun verses earth rotation. But the sword Mr Strangelove bears is in defense of his faith in his church. JMHO

And which church would that be exactly??

4 corners, sun and moon stood still........... Nasa conspiracy,,,,,,,, cause the Bible says so......

If the world was flat, why don't we fall off? If the earth stands still, how is it we can view from space and satelites that the earth is rotating?

If the Earth doesn't move, and the Sun moves around the earth,,,, How can we explain how this denies every law of physics as we know them, and how this completely denies gravitational theory?

God invented the laws of physics, so don't say God is a mystery.

If one is going to have this discussion, I would urge you to read a little about astronomy, and learn the very basics of physics. I also urge you to reread the scriptures you claim makes these illogical statements.

Can we deny any figure of speech? As in the Bible never convey's a mans view of what God says in different ways? (Cause, you know, Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, aren't different views and writings about the exact same event) Another point, are the differences between Greek and Hebrew writings, and personalities of the cultures. Where as Hebrew is more "literal" and Greek is more "poetic". Not to mention the fact that many of the original books of the OT, weren't written in Hebrew at all. There was no written Hebrew text for thousands of years. The written language was borrowed from different cultures. It's possible that things were described as they saw it, but the point was made.

So,,,,,, "The sun stood still"..... Meh,,,,, Ever say "Time stood still" ? Now, if that were in the Bible, what would we think of Time? Would we think of it as a moving force, or a mass of an object moving in a linear motion? Does time move?

4 corners of the earth...... Never heard that figure of speech before. It's much better always to say, North, South, East, and West. Of course, Sailing in ships or traveling wasn't very common for the Nomadic people of Hebrew origin. So, of course they wouldn't have used maps at all with all 4 directions written on the face. 4 corners of the earth would never have been used in the entirely direct, straight forward book of Revelation. (BTW,, a book wrote by a guy on an Island)

I'm starting to think you have been through this argument before watchman....(AND LOST). You seem to bear a grudge. Again I ask you to please keep the discussion civil and refrain from calling those of us who choose to accept the possibility of a stationary Earth....fools.

Yes -- I have debated this issue many times. Sorry to disappoint you -- but, I win it in each and every instance.

I have just been stating facts -- anyone, who has grown up in this era and received an education, should know that the earth is not the physical center of the universe. Hence, by default, those like you, who believe that the earth is the center of the universe, do so foolishly.

Yeah it doesnt matter how many times I read it.....it still says the same thing. That God stopped the sun and moon in the sky. You can deconstruct it as much as you want it it doesnt change anything. If the Earth spun on its axis, the verse could EASILY have said...:::::::::

V.12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, EARTH stand thou still that the SUN be upon Gibeon; and the Moon, stand thou still in the valley of Ajalon.

But it doesnt say that. All your talk of "by implication" only implicates confusion. God is not the author of confusion.

Unfortunately for those of your persuasion, your argument is always a loser. The Bible manuscripts are not in English. Hence, you cannot get away with suggesting that your interpretation of the English rendering, which is contrary to the Bible manuscripts, is fact. To understand these scriptures, only the Hebrew meaning of the word rendered "stand still" is relevant -- not your preferred English meaning. The Hebrew is clear in that it is only by 'implication' -- not actuality -- that the sun 'stood still'. The only way that there can be an 'implicated' stoppage of the sun is if the earth stopped rotating.

You explained it? Where? just a sec>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Nope....just read over your posts again. You just say because the moons of Jupiter revolve around Jupiter it means the Earth isn't the cetre of the universe::::::

Still waiting for an explanaiton>>>>

Well, you answered your own question in a previous post when you pathetically attempted to suggest that Galileo's recantation was genuine -- and not a sham to save his own skin. If the discovery of moons revolving Jupiter was not a threat to the RCC's [infallible] belief that the earth was the center of the universe, there would have been no reason to try Galileo for heresy at all.

Or you can bring some more evidence forward. C'mon.....there must be some obvious proof that the Earth is moving no?

You already lost the debate -- if you are Christian, you would admit it!
