justbyfaith, if you care about Catholics or anyone else, ditch the assumption that a Catholic person is an uneducated/deceived idiot,
that you know more about their beliefs than them, and that this "anti-cult" stuff is remotely loving.
None of that's reality, it's all horribly offensive, and just makes people flee from the things you espouse.
I stated a longer post here, but it's really not worth the effort.I have never said that Catholics are uneducated neither have I ever called them idiots.
A person can be very educated and yet be deceived by satan. The devil is a master at that and is capable of doing that to the most intelligent of people. That is why we need the Holy Ghost to be inoculated against the deceptions of satan.
It is very loving...because if someone is caught up in the confines of a cult, they are being deceived by it and it is a most loving thing to do to attempt to deliver them out of its clutches. Because those who are deceived may very well end up in the lake of fire.
If they do in fact flee from what I am saying in other places, it is a crying shame and to their detriment; because in those places I have been preaching sound doctrine that, if believed, will bring salvation to the hearer. See 1 Timothy 4:16.
There is an ugly side to everything that is truthful. Most people are turned off by the notion of hell; but that doesn't mean that we aren't to preach on the subject. It has been said that Jesus spoke on the subject of hell more than on any other subject.
This reaction is...that of a delinquent teenager. This post is... *eye roll*
I'm curious as to which faith that is. Because I could have sworn that you said before that it was the JW's.I stated a longer post here, but it's really not worth the effort.
justbyfiath, I have degliantly studied many many faiths, Christian and non. In all of my travels, I've only encountered one that so fundamentally preached hatred, pride, de-humanizing others, falsehoods, blind adhesiveness to human leaders, paranoia, and true cultishness. And that faith is not Catholicism, JW, LDS, or general Protestantism.
You sure?I'm curious as to which faith that is.
I think you're going to say that it is what I espouse. You sure?
There's some person whom will believe just about any view.I think you're going to say that it is what I espouse.
But if not, I'm curious as to what it is because I would want to check it out. Anything that a Mormon thinks is cultish is either extremely worthy or else so wacked out that no one would believe in it.
And I know that the latter isn't my faith.
Love is often misconstrued as hatred because real love does not always give you a warm fuzzy feeling.Love is often misconstrued as hatred because real love does not always give you a warm fuzzy feeling.
Heb 12:5, And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
Heb 12:6, For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Heb 12:7, If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Heb 12:8, But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Heb 12:9, Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
Heb 12:10, For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
Heb 12:11, Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
The first time a father spanks his child, the child with tears and misunderstanding may cry and ask the father why he hates him so much; at which point the father has to explain that this is done in love, so that the child will not continue down a path that would lead them to even worse pain and suffering.
Proverbs 22:6, Proverbs 23:13-14, Proverbs 29:15, Proverbs 13:24.
This group very encourages it's disciples to:
- discourage independent thinking/investigation
- only trust the leader's views. Anything which contradicts that view is a lie.
- Justify persecution of others as love.
- Huge and looming threats of damnation if they stray from the specified path. Questioning is a threat to your soul and the devil is seductive!
Love is often misconstrued as hatred because real love does not always give you a warm fuzzy feeling.
Exactly right! Warm Fuzzy with a glow! If you look into history, Christian love meant putting a hot poker to you....
I save you by condemning you!
I am more religious if I can find someone to condemn!
@Grailhunter makes a good point about the time-wasting of this whole discussion.Certainly not me; for I encourage people to always be as the Bereans (Acts of the Apostles 17:10-11).
I think that this is true Christianity where the leader is Jesus Christ.
Sometimes what is perceived as persecution is love; and those who perceive that love as persecution have psychological problems. persecution complex is a well-known malady in psychology books.
Yes, in Christianity itself, those who don't believe in Christ and subscribe to His pov on everything are very much subject to damnation. Of course, if they are unaware of His pov, there is leeway. But if they are aware of something that He has said and reject it as being a lie, they are not believing in Him and therefore are subject to perishing according to John 3:16.
Fundamentalist, born again Christians is what I'd gather you're talking about.@Grailhunter makes a good point about the time-wasting of this whole discussion.
So justbyfaith, maybe one day you'll figure out which group I'm talking about. But in the meantime, you have a nice evening.
We do not condemn people as believers in Christ (Luke 6:37).We do not condemn other people as believers in Christ (Luke 6:37).
They are condemned already because they don't believe on the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18).
What's in a name? It is the essence of the Person who is behind that Name.
I'm not talking about Fundamentalists or generic born-agians.Fundamentalist, born again Christians is what I'd gather you're talking about.
This is the truth: we are hated by most everyone.
But Jesus promised that this would be the case for those who truly believe on Him.
So I would guess that we are right where we need to be: in the palm of His loving, righteous right nand.

A classic statement that denotes prejudice.I'm not talking about Fundamentalists or generic born-agians.
I actually have friends whom are Fundamentalists, including two pastors whom are great Christians.
