This episode dives deep into the question; what is the most dangerous doctrine in the church of our day? Whereas in the early church the battle against heresy was focused on who God is; who Christ is; today the issue is much more personal. Who are we?

Hi John, long time!
Loved the video, thank you!
Do you think, or believe that the modern church IS the great apostacy? Sure seems so clear to me anymore.

BTW- are you still doing the zoom meetings?

Much love to you and family

Hey Nancy... thanks for the comment. Hope you are doing well. :) <><

Yes, the modern church is in apostasy..based on ironically, making it suitable for everyone. By making it easy for people , the leaders in the church have corrupted the gospel ....which in turn makes it easier for people looking for an easy ride...with outlandish promises.

God's promises are real...but one has to meet the requirements.

The zoom meetings ended after Covid.

Peace to you and yours. :) <><

Thanks for the post.

What do you see as the root cause or causes?

Do some pastors feel their success is based on church attendance?
Do some pastors feel the need for public approval, including the media?
Do some pastors believe that if they bring in the materially oriented with a watered-down message, the Holy Spirit will do the rest of the work for them?
Are some pastors internally compromised, rationalizing that watered-down Christianity is good enough?

Other?

Blessings.

Dangerous for sure--good word--great job!

The doctrine that negatively and greatly effects more people however, came from those "false teachers" who actually made it into the church with their "destructive heresies" that have been taught within the church ever since, even to this present day. I call it the Someday Doctrine. Which was the result of those false teachers not seeing Jesus return "soon" or "quickly" who then in their unbelief kicked the can of His coming down the road from the "today" as Jesus told the thief on the cross and the "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" (now) words of Christ, and replaced them with their Someday Doctrine only to be fulfilled in the distant future.

Paul even pulled it all together saying Jesus didn't come and now it's over--He was "firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep" and the resurrection comes--"but each one in his own order" starting with Jesus. But Paul, knowing many would believe a "lie" foretold of the "strong delusion" that was "already at work" during that time (according to John). The consequence of which was and is for those who partake, is that Jesus would "cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." And it is epidemic!

No one is going to be attracted to a faith that calls for a full surrender of their lives. The devil very cleverly adapted the gospel to man's taste for salvation and glory for just being themselves. We see excesses of even this twisting of the faith...and many justify themselves that they don't go THAT far...as in "live your best life now". But they go far enough to miss the meaning of the gospel.

On the subject of being crucified with Christ.

People nowadays have no idea of what that entails, instead there is a false teaching that makes it something "positional" meaning it never happened. But the deceived one is expected to act or pretend that it did happen....at least mystically somewhere, somehow. It is Gnostic in nature and not something that means anything in real life. It doesn't change anything except in the mind of the religiously gullible. The same form of teaching states that God can't see our true condition...being blinded by Jesus who covers us up so His Father can't see us in our true condition. So much for being reconciled to a holy God.

Of course this form of doctrine comes from the adversary of our souls who wants us to be self-satisfied without seeking the Lord. Imposters will state that having experience with God is wrong...and having no experience with God is right. Up is down and down is up. Is the bible there to replace God...or call us to Him?

As long as we try explaining away the biblical narrative and testimony as something common and figurative, we will remain aliens to God. It is no wonder that Jesus says "I never knew you" to those who assume they do because they are very active in ministry and church things.

Is this not akin to the 10 lepers that Jesus healed, but only one came back? He asked where the other 9 were.
Is it right to assume that only 1/10 who are touched by God somehow will return to him, while the others are happy with their gift and claim to know Jesus because He healed them? Yet, only one came back to perhaps be open to a relationship with Jesus.

The whole idea of having to offer sacrifices to God in the law of Moses was for people to GO TO GOD. The word in Hebrew for sacrifice (karban) comes from the root word karav which means to approach or draw near. As in...draw near to Me and I will draw near to you.

But people are not looking for a real connection to God. They just want a free pass for remaining as they are.

Again...why does Jesus say "I never knew you" if the whole point wasn't to encounter God experientially...which so many are dead against?

I enjoyed your podcast today. This is only the second one I've seen to listen to. You are right on the money with "positional theology," if I understand you right. I hear it all the time on the radio, on a program where Pentecostal pastors of one denomination answer questions phoned in to them. This program has been airing for decades. What's strange is I know they love Jesus, but they preach clothing themselves with Christ's righteousness imputed to them, but also teach they will always be sinners in need of a Savior. That is how I see positional theology to my way of thinking. They don't claim to have been made righteous themselves, nor even that Jesus takes away our sin AND cleanses the source of our sinning, our old man (we call a sin nature). One thing in their favor is they are against the prosperity, name it and claim it sect of Pentecostalism. And they do witness healings and many answers to prayers in their services, but their answers to some of the questions phoned in are absolutely in error. Mainly with regards to 1 John 1:8 and Romans 7:14-25.
