If you haven’t actually experienced it how are you so sure what it is?
I don’t have a copy, I just now read it online, thanks.
Still not sure what you mean by “new age”.

He must mean one of those first or second century new age books.

It was Socrates. If you think Socrates was a mystic occultist, you know nothing of history and have little awareness of philosophy, never mind Western understanding that became the basis for our culture, government and society as a whole which you live in.

You're demonstrating a complete lack of awareness.

Maybe you are trying to throw a blanket on what was preserved in the Gospel of Thomas which quotes Jesus as saying-

When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty."
Sounds like there was a blanket already thrown on this un-canonical book and, from that last statement you quoted from the book of Thomas ... for good reason. None of it points to Christ but all of it points to "self". This is just my own take here, and please do not take offence as none intended!

I take no offense Nancy. You should realize that a few bearded men in the fifth century decided for you (since you let them) what should be considered scripture, and what should not. You put an awful lot of trust in those men. A few men determined your canon.

Secondly, the book (gospel) of Thomas purports to be a collection of the sayings of Jesus, and nothing more than that. Of his sayings, the scriptures you consider canonical gospels conclude by saying this>>>

There are many other things that Jesus did. If every one of them were written down, I suppose the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Okay, and thank you for not taking offence Mr. E. :)

Well, I put my faith in CHRIST and not men. Secondly, should I "let" clean shaved, suited men of any other century decide for me what is and what is not considered scripture?? How is your take ANY better than theirs?
I really cannot speak on this much as I am not a professional in the ECF. history.
But honestly, why do you NOT believe the canon? Never read the book of Thomas and wonder why it was excluded, same as the book of Barnabas.

You have no such authority.

But that you might know the truth, here again are the scriptures that show you to be wrong in your declaration above:

But He was speaking of the temple of His body.

For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

The consequence of whether or not you now repent or reject the truth, only effects you.
I do... have authority from my Heavenly Father and His Son in His Word of Truth. And so does anyone else of His servants that KEEP HIS WORD.

You have to deny what I said because you show you do NOT keep His Word, but instead you keep man's word, which is nothing.

I only deny your error, and rightly so, for that is what is given to me.

But you, you do not know what it is that you "KEEP" of "HIS WORD", which is also given to me to warn you about.

There's been plenty of men's false doctrine pushing by the reinvigorating teachers of the old Reformation doctrines of the 15th-16th centuries that failed, with the early Protestants thinking the pope was antichrist, and the Roman church as the beast kingdom of Rev.13. Thing is, what those early Protestants believed about the pope as antichrist didn't happen.

And one of their pet false doctrines is the vain idea that the 2 Thess.2:4 "temple of God" that the coming Antichrist is to sit in represents Christ's Church.

2 Thess 2:3-4
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped;
so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
KJV

Hippolytus of the 2nd century Church fathers understood that "temple of God" to mean a STONE TEMPLE in Jerusalem.

He was right, because per Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2, Christ's spiritual temple has Lord Jesus Christ as its Cornerstone, and His prophets and Apostles as its original foundation. Even Apostle Peter reveals that those in Christ also are part of it as 'lively stones' (1 Peter 2:5).

That means, for a false one to sit in the 'spiritual temple', they first would have to corrupt Lord Jesus Christ and His prophets and Apostles That is actually how idiotic their doctrine is with saying Paul's "temple of God" means Christ's Church.

No, it means a STONE TEMPLE in Jerusalem for the end, a temple of the Jewish type of history. A 3rd stone temple. Today's Jews already have the materials ready to build it, even with its cornerstone already cut.

A standing stone Jewish temple in Jerusalem is REQUIRED to fulfill Bible prophecy in the Book of Daniel for the 'end' of this world. There are many that confuse what the "abomination of desolation" actually means per Scripture so as to hide the fact that another Jewish stone temple is required for the end.

Lord Jesus in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 quoted from Daniel about the "abomination of desolation", marking that event for the very end during the "great tribulation" time. The Book of Daniel, specifically Daniel 11, defines its events about the coming Antichrist for the end stopping daily sacrifices in Jerusalem, and instead placing an idol abomination in the temple there in Jerusalem.

Now those pushing the old Reformer's failed ideas, et al, like to try and disguise what I just said that can be confirmed by study in Daniel 9:27 and Daniel 11 about the "vile person" and the "abomination that maketh desolate" which Jesus quoted for the 'end' of this world. So per Daniel, here are the events to mark and remember that MUST happen to fulfill that "abomination of desolation" prophecy...

1. a 3rd Jewish temple must be built by the orthodox Jews in today's Jerusalem. (Today, even some Islamic clerics are agreeing that the Jews in Jerusalem have always had a stone temple, showing they support the actual return of a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. The Jewish Sanhedrin in Jerusalem formed up again over a decade ago.)

2. temple worship and animal sacrifices in Jerusalem by unbelieving Jews must be going on.

3. the appearance of the false-Messiah which the unbelieving Jews will setup as their Messiah in Jerusalem. He will make the "league" of Daniel 11:21-23 with "a small people" (a small group of orthodox Jews in Jerusalem). That "league" represents the establishing of the 'covenant' of Daniel 9:27. He will enter into power at Jerusalem using peace. That covenant, or league, is to be for 7 years. The first half will involve the rebuilding of the 3rd temple and start up of temple worship again with daily sacrifices. The orthodox Jews still believe they are under the old covenant today, and need a stone temple to properly worship, and still await Messiah's 1st coming.

4. the false-Messiah, after the first 1260 days of that 7 year period, will end... the daily sacrifices in Jerusalem, and instead place the "abomination that maketh desolate" (Daniel 11:31). That idol will be the "image of the beast" we are warned about in Revelation 13:14-15. Per Christ's Olivet discourse, that will begin the time of "great tribulation" for the end.

5. just as Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, did in Daniel's days with making a gold idol image of himself demanding that all bow to it and worship it or be killed, the final Antichrist-false-Messiah will do the same with that "image of the beast" idol he will setup.

If you are still living when those events happen, know that you are in the time of "great tribulation", and Lord Jesus' return will be just around the corner, so refuse... to bow to that "image of the beast" and refuse his mark, for it will only be for a short time to wait on Jesus to come.
Paul wrote of the Temple. Not much of a physical building though. I wonder how what He shared through Christ connects with what Christ shared. Here are some verses for your consideration.

Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. KJV
Acts 7:48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, KJV
1Cor 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? KJV
1Cor 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. KJV
1Cor 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? KJV
2Cor 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. KJV
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: KJV
2Thess 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. KJV

That is fallacy what you are trying to do, pulling single verses out of their Chapters leaving the flow of the Message there. You could probably prove the world is flat if you relied on a set of encyclopedias with pulling just one sentence at a time from them.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:4, with "the temple of God", Apostle Paul was pointing to a standing stone temple in Jerusalem, a traditional Jewish temple.

Paul would NEVER claim that the spiritual temple with Christ as its Cornerstone could ever be corrupted by a false one, and only one of Christ's enemies could ever consider such an idea!

So if you believe on Jesus Christ as your Saviour, I suggest you dispense very quickly with any idea of Christ's spiritual temple being corrupted by any man, devil, or spirit.

Furthermore, a TRUE CHRISTIAN BELIEVER well understands that it is IMPOSSIBLE to corrupt the 'spiritual temple', because it is made up from The Spirit, and NOT from any physical building or structure on earth!!! The true Christian well understands this, but the FAKES do not understand it, because all they understand is what their 'beast' nature thinking allows, and that is only the material things of this world!

You haven't really said anything to prove what was shared with you was false other than to say it was and insult. Take care.

You may as well say, There was/is no war in heaven.

Which of course is also false and should bring your house down. "See! Your house is left to you desolate."

And you have not REMOVED YOURSELF FROM THAT FALSE DOCTRINE that Jesus Christ The Cornerstone of the SPIRITUAL TEMPLE can be CORRUPTED!

ALL... those who believe that the SPIRITUAL TEMPLE of Ephesians 2 can be corrupted by any false one shows they do NOT truly believe on Jesus Christ as Lord, because to believe such a LIE means believing Jesus can become corrupted. ONLY A FALSE JEW OF THE SYNAGOGUE OF SATAN would believe such an idea against Jesus Christ!

Why do you continually make up LIES?

I often have taught about the Revelation 12:7-9 war in Heaven between Archangel Michael and his angels vs. Satan and his angels, with Satan and his angels cast down to this earth in our earthly dimension. BUT I DON'T LIE AS OTHERS HERE DO ABOUT THAT, WRONGLY SAYING THAT WAS PAST HISTORY, for that event is STILL FUTURE TO US!

Rev 12:7-13
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not;
neither was their place found any more in heaven.

That phrase in red has a specific... meaning. It means Satan and his angel's abode in the Heavenly Dimension will be over, as they are literally cast out of that dimension and instead into OUR EARTHLY DIMENSION.

That means Satan and his angels are coming here upon this earth, and NOT hidden invisible working behind flesh men, but here DE FACTO WALKING UPON THE EARTH like angels that appeared to God's people have manifested! Those still alive at the end of this world will SEE him and his angels here on the earth.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."

There is peace in the heavenly dimension when that casting out happens, because Satan is not allowing to appear before God's throne and accuse us anymore. That points to his being literally... cast our of that heavenly dimension, and into our earthly dimension, meaning we will 'see' him as he is.

11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

That is a 5th SEAL event of Revelation 6, which only is for the END of this world. That further proves this casting out event was NOT history, but is still future for the end of this world.

12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because
he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

That "short time" is about the time of the end, the "great tribulation" which Jesus said He shortened for the sake of His elect.

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

You accuse me of lies, but it is you who continue in the lie that was foretold, while I tell you the truth which was also foretold.

The lie is in the timing, as "future" instead of what Jesus actually said.
