Though there have been many "date setters" out there and still are, some here may recall that the "Millerites", now the Seventh Day Adventist church, went through such a situation in 1843 with William Miller, a former Baptist leading them through a false and failed belief that the Lord was going to come in 1843.
Seventh Day Adventist Church History and Beliefs
I have no doubt that we really are living in the end days, whereby "God is now sending strong delusion to believe a lie". 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12.
However, to set a date for the "end of the age" is a vague statement.
Many do not believe that Jesus shall
suddenly appear from Heaven in the Glory of His Immortality, in flaming [blazing] fire, taking vengeance upon the unsaved (KJV 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, Luke 17:28-30), but rather they foolishly believe He is coming to establish His 1000 year kingdom of
peace on earth(?), of which is quite an extreme difference in views.
So then, who now is proposing that the Lord Jesus shall return in 2026, and what references in scripture prove it to be so, that it should be considered as truth?
