The Epistle to the Hebrews is a great summary of the change over from God’s Old Covenant to the New.
In it we read that “there remaineth therefore a Rest unto the people of God”

When Christ outlined the difference between the Old Covenant and the New in his Sermon on the Mount he took six 'examples' and in each instance he showed how that nothing in the 'Law and the Commandments' was to be nullified, but each should be lifted to a new and higher level of 'spiritual' expectation rather than strict 'letter of the Law' observance,
Adultery is the clearest example "ye have heard it said thou shalt not commit adultery, but I say unto you that if a man so much as looks upon a woman with lust in his heart he hath committed adultery already"
Those six examples were only 'examples', meaning that a similar raising of the bar was required in respect of every other law and commandment.
"Except your righteousness shall EXCEED that of the scribes and the Pharisees ye shall in no way enter the Kingdom of Heaven"

So what would be the comparable excess of 'spiritual' observance required in respect of the 4th commandment?

I say that it would be to enter the "Rest that remains unto the people of God"

And what is that 'rest that remains'?

Originally man was required to rest in commemoration of God's completion of his work of CREATION.

The 'Rest that Remains' is in commemoration of his completion of his work of RE-CREATION.

And that was completed the moment Christ died for our sins and rose again.

How do we carry out that commemoration on a higher level of 'spiritual' compliance?

BY DOING SO IN OUR HEARTS EVERY SINGLE DAY.
