I call it the religion of the Old Testament. I believe that because most people don't know the difference between the two " judaisms" they think that today's jews are following the same old covenant as Israel did. We know nothing can be farther from the truth.
That is correct.

Sorry but my God is not blessing this state of perpetual wars of genocide and destruction. God wants us to love one another. Not remove a race of people from off the face of the earth.
Did your God drown all but 8 on Earth "making them an example"? Did He burn Sodom alive? Did He send Lions to kill those who didn't fear Him? Did He create the EVERLASTING Hell fire? Or do you have a god?

If you want to better understand both Christianity and Judaism?

I recommend this pastor/teacher.

He was the only pastor my Jewish father (who at one point disowned me for my faith) would listen to, and highly respected.

This pastor taught accurate Judaism as it applied to Jesus and the early Church.
Also, at one time many pastors would order his lessons for their own private study.

grace and peace...........
I will check out the website. I have been a student of the Bible for 28 years now. It's always interesting to see a new ministry or teacher.

So if you don't mind me asking, what did you think of their most authoritive book, the talmud?

It is kind of deep topic, but I can either sum it up in two words or write a book about it. The two words sad and disappointment. To understand the Talmud you need to know the reason for the Talmud. How would you feel if everything you believed about Christianity was proven wrong? Or you completely misunderstood Christianity and it was your fault?

The Jews potentially had it all. They came from the Holy Seed and were Yahweh's favorite. And they "messed" it up at every turn. Salvation could have come to them with Moses but they failed. So they would have to wait for centuries for another chance. They waited centuries for their Messiah and then were responsible for His death. Crucify Him! Crucify Him! Let is blood be on us and our children! They actually cursed themselves. For 1800 years they were hated by the world and just about every Christian country kicked them out. During the witch-hunts they were treated like witches.

They were conquered by their enemies and both of the Temples were destroyed. From their perspective the destruction of the Temples meant their God.....Almighty God had been defeated by their enemies. Things were going from bad to worse and they knew it was their fault. Hard to recover from that. The Jews were not big on faith, which was another failure for them.

The Talmud was written in an attempt to restore faith in their religion and make adjustments in relation to the Torah.

You're missing the point....

What is the title of this thread?

To understand Christianity, you must understand Judaism.

That is why I posted what I had.

I was trying to understand where you were heading with that.
