No, they are one of the gifts and the gifts are given by The HolySpirit ….i can not speak in tongues and at one time felt very ‘ lower ‘ down than other Christians who have claimed that I should be able to speak in tongues. It caused me to doubt so any things at one time, now I am open to the gift, but value the gifts I have been given xx

Since Christianity is a walk, perhaps you will receive them at a certain point in your walk, perhaps at the Lord's time. That's how it worked for me. I was a local leader in a "revival" though at the time, I didn't speak in tongues. I was also a smoker. God uses the strangest people! He confounds the wise! He's really smart, eh? Lol
