Times like this are exactly why the Messiah said this:
[bible=Luke 6:42]
How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.
[/bible]
I mean this as nicely as possible, but sometimes there is a reason the same faces end up in the same situation time again. I mean this phrase towards no one in particular in this instance, but it is something to keep in mind. God's too busy and too great to need to "win" (by the earthly perspective) every little spat and doctrinal dotting of the "i" each day. The above verse means rather clearly to be inward-looking when it comes to issues and maybe think twice about the snide remark.
I've never seen anyone (even in the movies) hit the floor after a slap or two on the cheek.
