John 8
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.

You must be born again to see and enter the kingdom of heaven, in other words have God as your Father to believe in His Son, otherwise your father is the devil, and you are not able to hear the words of Christ.

John 3
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born [a]again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”

10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

John 5
31 “If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not [e]true. 32 There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true. 33 You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34 Yet I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. 35 He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.

36 But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. 37 And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.

38 But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. 39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is the Spirit that makes us willing to come to Christ as He is an excellent teacher.
Without being born again by the Spirit of God, you are unteachable, as you are not able to listen to His word.
John 8:43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
John 6
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.
65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

John 6
28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

30 Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”

32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”

35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will [f]by no means cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Rejected by His Own

41 The Jews then [g]complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.” 42 And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, [h]“Do not murmur among yourselves.
44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who [i]has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.

46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes [j]in Me has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

Who is the god of this world

The devil, you know the fella deceiving you in to believing he does not exist :funlaugh2

You know the problem with people like @Big Boy Johnson and others in this thread is they are not interested in truth

You know the problem with people like @Hiddenthings and others in this thread is they refuse to accept what God says in His Word

For those of us who do, we can be happy knowing these people will not be found in God's Kingdom so once we graduate from earth to be in the presence of the Lord, we won't have to deal with these crazy people to speak for the devil trying to deceive people

It’s a shared ignorance that has only intensified—now reaching a point where there seems to be no stopping it in these reprobate minds.

The reprobate minds claim there's no such thing as the devil or demons which are evil spirits because they were sent by their father the devil to speak in his behalf always claiming what God says is not true just like in the garden of eden.

Paul sure knew how to stir the pot.

He got that from the Lord and did so under the leading of the Holy Spirit as this is part of God's grace in reaching out to and confronting the lost nutjobs to attempt to get them to turn away from the lies of the devil and start believing what God says and start walking with Him.

Looks like @Scott Downey went on a copy and paste spree last night and thought by pasting the word satan and devil he might prove this creature's existence. How mistaken was he?

Theologians today struggle to identify a clear, singular arch-enemy of God in the Old Testament. Unlike later Christian interpretations that personify evil in Satan or the devil, the Old Testament typically portrays opposition to God through nations, kings, or rebellious individuals—rather than through a singular cosmic adversary.

Take Job as an example. The "adversary" (Hebrew: ha-satan) is introduced early in the narrative (Job 1–2), but after chapter 2, this figure disappears entirely. He plays no further role in the story, and crucially, he is never mentioned again, not even in the resolution of Job’s trials.

This absence is striking, especially for those who might expect a cosmic villain to be held accountable :watching and waiting:.

Instead, the conclusion of the book clearly attributes all that happened to Job directly to God. In Job 42:11, we read: "Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him..."

This verse does not blame an external evil being but explicitly states that "the LORD had brought" the trials upon Job. The text reinforces that Job’s suffering was within God's sovereign will, not the product of a rogue adversary.

Even those like the imaginative Scott Downey might be disappointed to find that the so called arch-enemy vanishes without consequence, and in the end, God alone is seen as the one in control, both in allowing the suffering and in restoring Job.

Yeah, Scott hasn't thought this through, and the ignorance continues.

Speaking from experience, sometimes we are critical until it happens to us and then we are humiliated to the point that we stop judging others after we struggle with the same thing. You said “Peter moves his thoughts from the void by a traitor to the needs of the Body of Christ.” For Peter it appears as if the needs of the Body of Christ was not yet something he is prepared (yet) to bear. After Peter proclaims “you know I love you, Lord.” Jesus asserts after Peter is converted(and able to bear the weak) “feed My sheep.”, “strengthen your brothers.”

You said Peter moves his thoughts from the void left by a traitor…ironic when Peter will also have to move his thoughts from his own void left by a traitor.
Do you understand the distinction between someone who denies their Lord, like Peter, and someone who betrays their Lord, like Judas?
the humiliation and humbling for Peter beginning with his own betrayal and denials of Christ, as a traitor.

I do appreciate your post concerning the devil and what it is. Maybe you know more about Judas. If you searched as you said and couldn’t find anything hopeful concerning Judas, you must have been looking for something hopeful (anything) at one time but couldn’t find not even one. Or were you looking for no hope at all and just proved your case? If you were looking for Hope …then you should be able to understand having been there yourself how I’m not totally convinced yet concerning Judas. It’s more than about being theologically correct for me. It’s how do I judge family or close friends who have betrayed and hurt and caused me harm? He instructs to bless those who curse you. To do good to those who do you evil. He says to pray for those who despitefully use you. Which leads into it not being about proving Judas as worthy…but the biggest question of all being what does God who is worthy of all praise do to those who do not love Him, to those who do Him evil, to those who harm and despitefully use Him? And to those who curse Him?
Cain is another example of one portrayed as hopeless and evil. These characters are very important for the faithful as they stand as a warning of what not to become.

No I don’t. What is the distinction between someone who denies the Lord and someone who betrays the Lord?

No I don’t. What is the distinction between someone who denies the Lord and someone who betrays the Lord?
Denial typically refers to a momentary or intentional refusal to acknowledge or confess the Lord.
Betrayal, on the other hand, involves a deeper, more deliberate act of turning against someone you have previously followed or been close to. It carries a sense of deliberate treachery or disloyalty
