I think it's the law!The Gospel is free... but Church Membership isn't!
You should indeed. It’s important to put God first. Too often people put their money first. My church of the past really wanted your tithes.
How about yours?
Putting God first isn't the question. Do you think you must tithe? My Pastor thought so!You should indeed. It’s important to put God first. Too often people put their money first.
The tithes were required under the Old Covenant. Christian giving -- LIBERALITY -- is a grace under the New Covenant. Take some time to study the matter from the New Testament and the teachings of Christ. My church of the past really wanted your tithes.
yeh, whatever happened to the storehouse, huhHere is where your tithes go
Pastor and all those that have a title gets salary.
We only need to give what we feel in our hearts to give. We are not under the Law and we should not be told that we must give 10%. When they do that I leave.
Not all churches lie to you.
Not entirely. The Bible says "as God has prospered you".We only need to give what we feel in our hearts to give.
A great number of Israel on the Jordan. John proclaiming" make straight the way of the Lord". Israel responds what shall we do John? " Do you have two coats? Impart to your brother who has none.""For me" it is a heart thing...
In the sermon on the mount Jesus showed us clearly that the Law does not produce fruit or life.
It was a school teacher. We do not live there.
Jesus gave us the two love commandments which totally fulfilled and swallowed up the 10.
Love always wins.
If we live and walk in the love of God then keeping His will is automatic...not a weight, not a burden, not something which 'must' be done.
The only law we are under is love.
If we love then we give.
As for The Tithe ...it is cheap, narrow and small and legalistic !
Any fool can give 10%
If we read the sermon on the mount in the Spirit that Jesus spoke it, we see Jesus RAISED everything higher than the law, to heart level. That is the test.
If people " pays their tenth"...it shows that they have totally missed the message of Jesus.
If a person just settles on "paying God's dues" ..then they don't bother to pray and ask the Lord - "So what , how much, and where, do You wish me to bless someone somewhere from YOU with Your Money this month?"
In just 'paying a tenth'....There is no chance at all that a person will hear -God say -
" 50 % this month" , or even -
" Send $5,000 to so and so from Me."
If the person has no 'heart of giving' in them and they believe that only 10% belongs to God and the 90% is all theirs....they have made a choice to be serving under the old re tithes, because it benefits themselves much more.
That is what the church does, they go back to quote the Law (like Malachi 3)Tithing, while it is not a legalistic obligation in the NT, carries with it a promise. So if you want to be a recipient of the promise you will fulfill its condition (see Malachi 3).
Actually, Malachi is in the prophets. That is what the church does, they go back to quote the Law (like Malachi 3)
IF your heart is first and foremost on God, then supporting physical operations of the church through tithes should be an obvious and natural thing to do.Putting God first isn't the question. Do you think you must tithe? My Pastor thought so!
We don't need a Pastor who needs 10% for his time when the church never needed a pastor. See if you find one below.
1Co 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
1Co 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
We don't need a person to lord over us.
