What is Christian fasting?

There is a scriptural topic that puzzzles me. What is Christian fasting? What does the term mean? How is it done? When is an appropriate time or period to do it?

that is something that is expected or commanded..
There are good youtube videos on fasting.

fasting is healthy and can give spiritual strength as well as cleanse the body if done properly.

I think that the Israelites were told to fast weekly as in once a week.
The fact is Mose and Y'shua did it for an entire month, Moses actually returned and fasted for another month.
Fasting is something that needs to be studied and done moderately at first.
