Does GOD sometimes use Scripture to "guide" us? -- If so, then should we find Excuses to Disobey, or should we Accept and Trust that guidance?

Lke 22:35 And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36 He said to them, “But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a bag. And let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one.

And as I've asked @David H., if this passage is not LITERAL, or has been TRANSLATED incorrectly; or INTERPRETED incorrectly, -- we should have that EXPLANATION/CLARIFICATION so that we can CORRECTLY understand what GOD is attempting to convey! And although he has declined to provide that explanation, any help you might offer would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what the future holds for me, but GOD does! :)

Can you quantify? -- For example if a United States Senator and wife were walking down the street surrounded by Police Officers in the Nation's Capital, would it be "typical" for them to fear for their lives?

    Thanks!

I Do not throw out that scripture in the least, that is where you are wrong, I Have used it many times to support the second amendment of the constitution, But what we are facing now it will not help you with. The Bible is clear on what we will be facing and God is allowing it so that the number can be fulfilled of those who serve in the Lord's army of Saints (see the fifth seal, Note how the ESV translates this particularly), and we are ready should we be called to fulfill that roll. Are you ready to lay down your life if called to do so? To carry the cross as Christ did? Where he leads I will follow, He is preparing us for just such a task, to be witnesses in these end times and to give our testimony.... Look up that verse in Rev. 12:11, and the meaning of the word testimony in Greek, and you will see.
    G3141 - martyria - Strong's Greek Lexicon (KJV)

Read and Know the truth of Daniel 7:21, and Revelation 13:7, and you will see it. It is you who will be on the wrong side if you are promoting the church militant, for they will become part of the harlot that has the blood of saints to deal with.

Knowing when the "great tribulation" starts shouldn't be that difficult, since Lord Jesus told us in His Olivet discourse. But it's obvious many brethren don't know because men's doctrines are busy telling those that Christ's Olivet discourse is either already history, or not written for the Church, that's why they don't know.

Per Jesus in Matthew 24, the event that kicks off the time of great tribulation is the placing of the "abomination of desolation" idol in the temple in Jerusalem. That will begin the latter 1260 day half of Daniel's symbolic final "one week" of Dan.9:27. It is the time of trouble mentioned in Daniel 12:1 about the end.

Time to wake up, there's a major reason why the "abomination of desolation" and time of trouble prophecies were given in the Book of Daniel. It's because what Daniel and his fellows went through in captivity to Babylon serves as a type for the endtime tribulation Jesus warned of for just prior to His return. What was it that Daniel suffered? For 3 years he was to eat the king's meat and drink the king's wine so as to be healthy when presented to the king after 3 years. The 3 years is symbolic for the first half of Daniel's symbolic "one week". So for 3 years, Daniel was well taken care of, exalted by the king of Babylon even because of God giving him to interpret Neb's dream.

When the false prophets led Neb to make an idol and decree that all bow in worship to it at the sound of the psalter or be killed, that is when Daniel and his fellows faced trouble, because they refused to bow to it. Yet Christ delivered them through it. The same things as a 'type' will happen to Christ's Church in the coming great tribulation also. Christ' faithful are to make a 'stand' for Him, just as Daniel and his fellows did in Babylon. The type of stand is being prepared to give a Testimony by The Holy Spirit against them.

... then please explain why you disregard those instructions. Is it because the text is not LITERAL; or has been TRANSLATED incorrectly; or INTERPRETED incorrectly? PLEASE EXPLAIN!

And where Scripture does not contradict Scripture, please don't distract from the Verse in question by tossing around other verses. Address what's WRONG with this Verse as conveyed.

OR SIMPLY THROW IT OUT, which you've denied -- but have DEMONSTRATED. :)

The tribulation started when the Kardashians were given a spot on prime time TV (or wherever they are), ...or, actually, was it when Nichole Ritchie and Paris Hilton had their TV show?
Maybe it was when Kanye become a 'Christian', or when Bruce Jenner walked into his wife's clothes closet by mistake...?
    Many signs!

I Just did, do you not read and comprehend? Here it is again....

Jesus laid down his life, he did not fight to spare it, the church age, the age of evangelism of the church is nearing the end of its course these instructions are for the church age, we are entering the dispensation to come, a time of transition before the millennial reign of Christ When the Gospel of the kingdom is preached once again (Matthew 24:14), You lack this vision in your theology, as do most Christians out there, as much of it remains unsealed to the masses. Then the Everlasting Gospel is Preached by the three angels in the midst of the final weak, which is the Gospel we who are called to royal priesthood of in the millennial kingdom will preach. The verse you speak of applies to the church age, not the the age that is coming. Having a purse and sword will not help you in the age to come, But sound faith in the providence of God will. There is coming an outpouring of the Spirit like never before seen in the saints of the Most High, they will be empowered by the Spirit to do Greater works than ever before, and as a testimony despite their empowerment, they like Christ will willingly lay down their lives for the Glory of God and as a testimony. You do not understand this because you are fighting for an earthly kingdom, we are fighting for a heavenly King.

All you want to do is JUSTIFY throwing out a Verse which you disagree with. And I really don't care that you throw out ONE or MORE Verses, but why couldn't it have been something related to STEALING, ROBBING, MURDERING, or SLANDERING?!? Those are things I struggle with, and not so much using my PURSE to fill my BAG, and to purchase a SWORD.

So if you could accommodate MY PREFERENCE for christianity, we could agree! o_O

    Whew,

    Mathew:24 KJV.
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

I find that a lot of people over look this part. I believe that Jesus shortened the 7yr Trib. to the season of the Locust ( may - Sep. ) In the book of Rev.

Ummmmmmmm, if a person followed the Scholars (Newton, Mauro, Montgomery, Young, Keil, Kliefoth, etc.), along with the Historical Record (or lack thereof), and the LITERAL MASORETIC TEXT, they'd discover that Walvoord's concurrence to the purported 490 years is patently FALSE from EVERY ASPECT, -- INCLUDING the angel's instructions in 12:4 & 9.

Secondly, I'd suggest that as Prime Ministers and Presidents continue to "launch", that when the dirt, dust, smoke, and ash fill the atmosphere to the point where the sun can only shine through for a few hours during mid-day (if those days had not been shortened - Matt. 24; the sun became black as sackcloth - Rev. 6), -- they'll realize that they're not killing just their "enemy" but they're killing themselves and will STOP LAUNCHING (but for the sake of the elect - Matt. 24).

Perhaps if we simply started with 9:2, and resolved the "simple", we could resolve the "complex"!

God did not send me here to accommodate your preference, But to show people in Christ how to be teachable, and to learn and see and hear from the Spirit of Truth. The ones who have it all figured out are the ones who are in for a big surprise.

"To preach Christ, we must have a continuous flow of revelation from the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, we will end up repeating a stale message. If the Holy Spirit knows the mind of God and searches the deep and hidden things of the Father, and if he is to well up as flowing water within us, then we must be available to be filled with that flowing water. We must stay filled up with a never-ending revelation of Christ. Such revelation awaits every servant of the Lord who is willing to wait on him, believing and trusting the Holy Spirit to manifest to him the mind of God." ... ?what?, -- ?OBEY SCRIPTURE?, or explain why Scripture is NOT LITERAL; NOT PROPERLY TRANSLATED; or NOT ACCURATELY INTERPRETED?!?

For the sake of our FELLOWSHIP please accept Lke 22:36, and throw out Act 5:5-10, so that when I STEAL from GOD, there's no threat of any consequences. And while you're throwing out Verses, Chapters, Books, and/or Testaments, could you please consider also deleting 1 Kngs 2:44-46, because as I suggested earlier, I have a tendency to SLANDER, and I don't want to end up like Shimei. :)

What your scoffing is, is far worse than that, it is quenching the Spirit to your own detriment. I Cannot do anything about your own self deception, you have to recognize it as such.

CHAPTER 22: SELF-DECEPTION AND HOW TO AVOID IT
Of all forms of deception, self-deception is the most deadly, and of all deceived persons the self-deceived are the least likely to discover the fraud.

The reason for this is simple. When a man is deceived by another he is deceived against his will. He is contending against an adversary and is temporarily the victim of the other’s guile. Since he expects his foe to take advantage of him he is watchful and quick to suspect trickery. Under such circumstances it is possible to be deceived sometimes and for a short while, but because the victim is resisting he may break out of the trap and escape before too long.

With the self-deceived it is quite different. He is his own enemy and is working a fraud upon himself. He wants to believe the lie and is psychologically conditioned to do so. He does not resist the deceit but collaborates with it against himself. There is no struggle, because the victim surrenders before the fight begins. He enjoys being deceived.

It is altogether possible to practice fraud upon our own souls and go deceived to judgment. “If a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing,” said Paul, “he deceiveth himself.” With this agrees the inspired James: “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”

The farther we push into the sanctuary the greater becomes the danger of selfdeception. The deeply religious man is far more vulnerable than the easygoing fellow who takes his religion lightly. This latter may be deceived but he is not likely to be self-deceived.

Under the pressure of deep spiritual concern, and before his heart has been wholly conquered by the Spirit of God, a man may be driven to try every dodge to save face and preserve a semblance of his old independence. This is always dangerous and if persisted in may prove calamitous.

The fallen heart is by nature idolatrous. There appears to be no limit to which some of us will go to save our idol, while at the same time telling ourselves eagerly that we are trusting in Christ alone. It takes a violent act of renunciation to deliver us from the hidden idol, and since very few modern Christians understand that such an act is necessary, and only a small number of those who know are willing to do, it follows that relatively few professors of the Christian faith these days have ever experienced the painful act of renunciation that frees the heart from idolatry.

Deuteronomy 4:30 "When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;"

Deuteronomy 4:31 "(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them."

Yes it is. The reason you won't explain why you ignore a Verse, Chapter, Book, Testament -- is because your agenda is dishonest. And while you parade your religiousness, both man and GOD see the corruption within. :)

The tribulation will start and stop when God tells it. This tribulation does not have a mind to do as it pleases. Satan has no control over when it starts. Satan would disrupt his own tribulation if he could, because he knows it was God allowing it to happen any ways. Satan can not get around God or God's will no matter how hard he tries.

Yeah, -- I acknowledged that Scripture defines what you cited, but I'm wondering as I've also cited, if having a United States Senator with wife walk down the street in the Nation's Capital city surrounded by police, and fearing for their lives, would constitute an indication of the Tribulation:

Gen. 19:The two angels came to Sodom in the evening; and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and bowed himself with his face to the earth, 2 and said, “My lords, turn aside, I pray you, to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said, “No; we will spend the night in the street.” 3 But he urged them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. 4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house; 5 and they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” 6 Lot went out of the door to the men, shut the door after him, 7 and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. 8 Behold, I have two daughters who have not known man; let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please; only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.”

Or how about if an ENTIRE Nation's Election was rigged? Or if it's "normal" for Election Officials to be Intimidated, Harassed, Slandered, and Doxxed.

dox, (abbreviation of documents), is the Internet-based practice of researching and publicly broadcasting private or especially personally identifying information about an individual or organization.

It seems that the old example of a frog in a heated pan of water might apply, such that we grow used to an increasing sinful world, without realizing that we're being boiled alive.
