Is the love He commanded not to include laying down our own life in His own love unto every generation, as He did, saying "Follow Me?" I tell you--it is.
Where do people get the authority?

Yes, you have described your own situation quite well.
But that does not account for the unfinished work of Christ to every generation until the end under His authority. An example of that authority, is Paul, saying, "For me, to live is Christ." And he was just one under the authority of Christ, only seeing to the works of Christ by divine appointment for a small part of the overall church age. Has Christ then left us orphans, left to workout our own salvation--to love His life in our hearts; to have and be nothing special without revelation or nothing--just our own person, choosing what WE make out of our life as if just a man is not able to be appointed by Christ, and say "for me, to live is Christ?"
That's really sad, no pathetic. He is not done, nor are those whom He has sent, and will continue to send, until the end of the age.
I believe He has completed and finished everything.
Maybe some people will come and buy your books and see what you have to offer them, I am not sure what you want.
I mean I love you as a person.
People will seek him out, or not, or check out your books or something.
What do you want? To badger me? Can you not let me be?
Using words like sad, or pathetic.... I don't get it.
But it bothers you.
Best just let it be, instead of harboring over me, or trying to get me to "SEE" something.
I don't believe anyone has any authority to assert the letters written and the Gospels written to themselves directly.
I do believe that God/Yahavah is the ultimate authority, he will write on the hearts and minds of those who look to him.
The Bible itself is a wonderful gift God has left for us to ponder and look at, but according to it.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and display his handy work.
People can do whatever they choose though, its between them and God on an individual subjective level.

You asked for this. You have made a case seemingly against perhaps any Christ-given authority since "it is finished"--which is true of the payment, but not of every generation. If YOU yourself are finished--fine. But there are babes born everyday that have yet to hear and know the good of what Christ has indeed finished--and yet it is not finished for them--it has only just begun--and Christ has not left any as orphans.
So, if you want to walk off into the setting sun happy for all that God has done for YOU, fine. But then, maybe you should not look back and give a care and trouble yourself about the unbroken line of Christ-given authority that continues on, and will unto the end.

I don’t want to argue with you just cause you assume something you believe. That’s fine.
But I don’t think it’s good to assume I must believe you either.
No one should ever believe me, and they should read the Bible for themselves, study, and see what it is all about.
I don’t believe that that “end times which was for that generation” means it continues on and on and on and on.
Never read that line in the Bible, saying
“also the end times will come upon you in the future of Americas, Canada or something else”
The only end time I believe at this point in life is death itself.
Don’t know when but when trying to talk people like yourself I wish I could just leave sooner.
That’s my weakness, I wanna leave and go home.
Cause it’s frustrating, you can believe whatever you want @ScottA, but I can’t make that Bible say.
“To Matthew in his little trailer, the end times which is coming for you just as it was them then”
Therefore ya failed to make any point with me sir… cause I just don’t see as you want me too.

The title of the thread is a question--which you did indeed ask ("you asked for it").

Okay, if you have nothing more to add that is fine.
To anyone else, if you can make the scripture say that this is written* to *you today, I would love to know.
All I do know is I was reading Romans 15 today, and I like what that chapter is about in which brings the gentiles together, in the ability to reach Yahavah through Yeshua.
Romans 15:13 is a great scripture to have in remembering at least in my opinion.
Romans 15:13 says: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." This verse is a prayer for believers to experience the fullness of joy, peace, and hope through faith in God and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Here's a breakdown of the verse:
- "May the God of hope...": This acknowledges God as the source of hope.
- "...fill you with all joy and peace...": It prays for believers to experience complete joy and peace.
- "...in believing...": This emphasizes that joy and peace come through faith in God.
- "...that you may abound in hope...": This speaks of overflowing with hope.
- "...by the power of the Holy Spirit": This highlights the Holy Spirit's role in empowering believers to have hope according to some Bible translations.

I edited this post because there is a drastic difference between
Written "to" those people then at that time.
and Written "for" us to learn from.

It is finished . JESUS has done all .
However as paul himself says we do not YET SEE all things put under Him .
And i highly doubt anyone alive is finished .
You see when its all done and one breathes his last
THEY WILL SEE the victory , O death where is thy sting ...........
AS moratlity is swallowed up .
For this mortal must put on incorruption
Our walk , IS NOT DONE so long as we have breath in these lungs
ITS TO CHRIST we must cling
and do be prepared to be hated by this world and even by many within christendom .
But no marvel
for as went the jews
so too has went the realm of christendom .
The many now sit under smooth talkers
and the evil repents not of his wickedness for these unity talkers have promised them life .
and many have loved their sin and thus are in the thralls of an all out love of a lie
that has just happend to have promised them THEIR SIN and SALVATION .
BUT THAT AINT JESUS , NOR HIS VOICE . that is another jesus and that one I KNOW CANNOT SAVE .
Just looking for conversation on this piece. Anyone whom is willingly to comment may do so.
How can we have authority over things which were not written to us directly?
My friend who hasn't really studied the Bible or anything very much just tells me "Matthew, people use it as a authority cause it's the Bible dude."
Yahavah is the authority truly, not some man behind the pulpit.
It's impossible to make some of the contents and context for us today, but we can most certainly learn from what was written to them.
