So there's some debate whether or not Jesus could sin and just chose not to or if He was incapable of sinning. I personally believe that He was capable of sinning and just chose not to for two reasons. One,.. if He couldn't sin then why would Satan even bother with trying to tempt Him in the first place and two,.. if He was incapable of sin then I don't think it would have worked for Him being the perfect sacrifice for our sins.
Anyways, so now that I've covered why I think Jesus didn't sin,.. why do we sin? Could we choose to never sin if we really wanted to or is it because that it's in our blood due to the original sin? If the latter part is true how was Jesus born without it when (even though I already know that the Catholics will disagree with me on this but it's not biblical and Mary could have just easily died on the cross for our sins then) Mary was a sinner herself?
Thanks, and a GREAT topic. the Lord Jesus was Tempted in, in, in, the FLESH. all temptation are in the Flesh, which our Lord did not have the sin Nature, (hence the virgin birth). if one notice it was the "Son of God" who was tempted, and not the "Son of Man", the Spirit, (who God is).
and true, in the flesh, as Hebrews 4:15 states. yes, he could have, but he was taught of God in the Flesh which is our example, (Isaiah 50:4). for we, in natural flesh, has not yet resisted sin until DEATH, (which no one is seeking to do), hence he did it for us, (naturally). ...... Hebrews 12:4 "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin." and this is where he condemned sin at, in the flesh, and that's why we sin, (not praticing it). we haven't died to it in belief yet. Romans 8:3 "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:"
but here is the answer to not sinning, no, not a Natural death, (which has been accomplish already), but we DIE in BELIF, (and Faith makes this realized) what do I mean? well let God give us the wonderful answer as "HOW NOT TO SIN".
THE ANSWER,
Romans 6:3 "Know ye not, that so many of us as were
baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?" (NOW you see what baptism is for....... ok, believe those who say you don't need baptism).
Romans 6:4 "Therefore we are buried with him
by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (one need to read that verse again).
Romans 6:5 "For if we have been planted together
in the likeness of his death,
we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:"
Romans 6:6 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed,
that henceforth we should not serve sin." (BINGO, this is the key).
Romans 6:7 "
For he that is dead is freed from sin."
Romans 6:8 "Now if we be dead with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with him:" we what? .... "BELIEVE", BINGO. don't feel , but KNOW.
Romans 6:9 "Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead
dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him."
Romans 6:10 "For in that he died,
he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth,
he liveth unto God." (NOW HERE'S THE ANSWER COMING,)
Romans 6:11 "
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin,
but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." BINGO, that's the answer to sin, LIKEWISE, "RECKON", or CONSIDER yourself to be DEAD unto sin, why, because of your deat..... in Baptism, your baptism remind us that we're dead, WHY? nect verse,
Romans 6:12 "
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof." Let is a condition od "CHOICE"... I chose not to sin. meaning NOT to pratice it. well HOW, mnext verse,
Romans 6:13 "
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God." (yield not to temptation? HOW? I don't go to the same places I "USE" to go, nor do I do the thing I "USE" to do. if I use to do drugs, as the scriptures states, DON'T yield ye your
members, members here meaning your arms so that you want push a needle of drugs in it. but present your body as a living sacrifice, unto God, Roman12:1)
Romans 6:14 "
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." (shall is future tense, meaning that one day we will have rest from sin, in the meantime, ACT LIKE YOU'RE DEAD, FOR THE JUST MUST LIVE BY FAITH. just as your baptism teach you). when sin comes around, (an old boy friend, or girld friend), do what God has given us a Natural example to do, the opossum trick... "PLAY DEAD". Romans 6:11 "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, and when the sin pass, come alive unto God. Oh the Power of the Baptism, go down dead unto the Wordl, and come up alive unto God.
we suggest one read chapter 7, and 8 to contuine to fully understand how one is dead to sin, and how to advoid it.
