Jesus said that without the works of forgiveness of others, the Father will not forgive us — and of course we will not enter into the kingdom of Heaven without the Father forgiving us of our sins.

Matthew 6
[14] For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
[15] But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (KJV)

Mark 11
[25] And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
[26] But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. (KJV)

The word of God is perfectly meshed together like a woven basket.
In following the standards, all the standards we have fellowship with him.

Matthew 5:23-24 KJV
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

We focus so much on the argument or debate of doctrine; God's vs mens, that we let the principles slide. Thus putting our peace and joy at risk.

Rightly dividing DOES NOT mean picking the sweet over the bitter but a harmony of what God requires of a believers life!

The words Jesus spoke were to Israel….

But our calling in this age of grace is a greater one. We have been forgiven of all our sins and were made righteous …. not because we forgave others…. but because of what Christ accomplished, and God having accepted that on our behalf.

Forgiveness is not contingent upon what we do, forgiveness has already been done unto us…(if you are born again)

We forgive …even as…

Eph 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Being aware of what God has forgiven you for …and you should have no problem forgiving others.

In addition to the truth that …. Animosity, anger, and hatred towards someone … really doesn’t affect that person much at all …. but those emotions will eat away at you like a cancer.

Jesus answered your question. Unless you forgive you will not be forgiven.

Jesus taught what God practices, that without repentance there is no forgiveness.

IF an offender against one says sorry, then we Must forgive.

Works salvation is NO SALVATION AT ALL. (Romans 4:2-6; 11:6; Ephesians 2:8,9; Philippians 3:9; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9 etc..)

Forgiveness flows from a grateful, saved heart and is not a work for salvation.

Are you saying that Jesus' words don't apply to Church-age believers?
Of course they do ….The words in Ephesians and Colossians come from Jesus Christ… who gave Paul the words to write by revelation…. as mentioned in Galatians and a couple other places.
God gave Jesus head over all the church, which means everything written from 30 AD or more like 43 AD (including the gospels) came by revelation of/from Jesus Christ.
Gal 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The gospels are addressed to Israel ..... The church epistles are addressed to us.... of the new covenant.

Forgiveness is an act. Acts of forgiveness. Acts of Kindness. Acts of love. Acts of humility. There is no merit to the "no works" doctrine as it is a misuse of Ephesians 2:8-9.

How do people know that you are a mailman? By your work of delivering mail.
How do we know if someone walks with Jesus??????

So according to your logic, how many acts forgiveness, acts of kindness, acts of love and acts of humility must a believer accomplish "in addition" to placing their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation before they will receive eternal life? Where do you draw the line in the sand? Ephesians 2:8,9 is crystal clear and is not being misused. Salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works. To believe anything else is to miss salvation.

This is why believers need the power of the Holy Ghost in their lives, as He's the teacher and guide. He will show the believer where correction is needed. I am not talking about feelings here, but rather the real manifestation of the Holy Ghost working within the believer. Jesus said He would come and teach us.
