Yes it was back when it was free, and to make it great again the first step is to re-elect Trump. There's a long list that will follow that, but that will be in his hands not ours so I'm not even going to worry about it.

The United States of America was initially founded on the bigoted ideals that white people are racially superior to people of color. It is this belief that was sown into the very fabric of this nation and it manifested itself for nearly two centuries through legalized discrimination and segregation against POC. Despite the declaration that "all men are created equal..." the U.S. Constitution included the Three-Fifths Compromise. Despite the declarations of freedom, liberty and justice for all, the enslavement of black people was legal until the 13th Amendment was ratified by Congress in 1865. Black people, indigenous people, and other POC were denied equality until the Civil Rights Act of 1964. POC were denied suffrage until the Voting Rights Act of 1965. There were the Jim Crow Laws and "separate but equal" in public establishments. POC were not allowed to eat at the same counter with white people in a restaurant. POC were not allowed to use the same bathroom or water fountain with white people. A black person was legally required to give up their bus seat to a white person. Black children were forbidden to attend the same public school as white children until the National Guard was deployed in Little Rock to enforce the desegregation of schools in 1957. Interracial marriage was illegal until 1967 when the Supreme Court ruled that the laws outlawing interracial marriage were unconstitutional. That being said, I have yet to include all the injustice and atrocities that were committed against the indigenous tribes who were already living on the land where America now resides.

The United States has taken slow but steady strides to ensure the rights and equality for all of its citizens, despite race, age, gender and sexual orientation. The foundational ideals of America have been repeatedly declared as freedom, liberty, and justice for all. I certainly don't want our nation to go back to what I've heard some conservatives refer to as "The Good Ole' Days" because these "Good Ole' Days" weren't good for POC.

I sort of agree with you but worshipping the government and respecting the government are two separate things. Also we don't serve the government the way we serve God,.. just like if a waiter or waitress serves us it's not the same thing either.

As much as I hate to admit it,.. you are right about those things.

We must honestly examine American history for what it really was and that includes nearly two centuries of racism, segregation, subjugation and discrimination against people of color. IMHO, it is unconscionable to deny this history in a concentrated effort to insist America was founded as a Christian nation when this country spent nearly two centuries denying POC human rights, civil rights, and equality to white people. It's as morally indefensible to me than the Manifest Destiny belief among many Christians, who invoke God's name in an effort to justify the inhumane atrocities and injustices that were committed against POC in this country. The United States of America is not a genuine Christian nation under God and it never has been. It is a nation that was founded upon infringed treaties with indigenous tribes and deep-rooted racism against people of color.

I seriously doubt he would fully endorse Trump. But I think if he had to choose, it would be Trump. There are a few of us here that have no other alternative than Trump, lesser of two evils.
