I can't believe that you're so influenced by ancient texts written by anonymous authors. I know that death is scary, I've been close to it myself....Not thinking about it and covering up your fear with false hope isn't going to make any difference.

I'm not here to learn anymore, I'm now here to correct your blinkered viewpoints.

The ancient texts record moral truths as old as humanity: we each have a personal responsibility to help the helpless, physically and spiritually. Deliberately hurting another person for selfish reasons is morally wrong. The nuclear family is the foundation for the best society (life-long, monogamous couples and their children). Take personal responsibility for your mistakes; give others credit where it is due. The best societies are based on Might For Right, not “might Makes right”.

If you object to these just because they are basic to Judaism and Christianity, it happens they have parallels in religions such as Sikhism, in Shinto-Buddhist culture, and in the best indigenous cultures past and present. (The Apostle Paul found this to be true among the gentiles to whom he preached: see Romans 2:14,15 & Acts 28:1-7.)

They do not have expiration dates any more than does the (ancient) Pythagorean Theorem.

In your opinion, assisted suicide fits within your moral framework. Which is fine, but you can't then turn around and give other people crap for having a problem with it. At least Christians have an objective standard they can point to, even if you don't believe it exists.

Is owning slaves moral?
Is ordering the slaughter of children and babies moral?

These are some of your God's examples of objective morality.

I don't care if Jesus does judge me, if Jesus is needy enough to let murderers and rapists into his heaven just because they have become born again, then he can keep it.

I've rejected a few versions of the creator, but I've always maintained that I'm open to the idea of a creative force, I fear that is the one thing that science will never discover.

The legalisation of assisted dying in England and Wales could move a step closer on Friday when MPs vote on a proposal to introduce it.

The bill would allow adults with fewer than six months to live to apply to be given help to end their own life, subject to certain safeguards.

If safeguards are in place, then I'm all for it.
Keeping people alive who are in terrible pain is barbaric.

Why not let them choose to end their own suffering?

I wanted our government to be sensible about this.... And fyi the bill actually passed last time in the house of commons, but then has to go to the house of lords and a time limit was in place and didn't pass there.
Maybe next time it's proposed there will be a different outcome.
