Five years sober - no alcohol. I guess I was triggered in a bad untampered usually kept safe place cause I keep wanting a bottle of wine and I've been holding back tears for a while and trying to hide it, but they keep flowing anyway so i turned the lights off so nobody would notice.

I just felt like if I told someone it would help.

I'm not going to do anything. The thought just keeps coming up. I had two bowls of cereal instead. I might have a third. I might have four. I should have the whole box. Throw the whole thing in there. I'm mad at myself for not getting the kind with marshmallows.

Love yourself even more because you are victorious over the attacks from the adversary.
I am not one to coach anyone on staying sober....I am the worst at hurdles in life... I think it's called dysfunctional discipline related to authoritarians with dysfunctional mentality....

Think back to a time when you "needed" a drink. What was happening then? What were you feeling? When you are ready, bring it out to the surface and examine it dispassionately. I've heard that if you deal with the original trigger issue, the issue that you want to keep buried, your cravings will go away.

At least that is what I have heard. I'm proud that you didn't take a drink. I'm cheering for you.

All alcoholic beverages are loaded with sugar.
For some, high stress causes a craving for sugars. Some body chemistry thing I've no clue about.

In any case, this could be the culprit in your sudden craving for wine.

I never drank or did drugs. I self injured from the time I was sixteen until about 21. Then a bit wavy for the next couple years. I'll have urges every great while if I am really stressed out/anxious. I did the other week. And praise be to God, never again. I will never again. Just bodily sensation more then anything else.
