A friendly reminder...
Is not boredom a form of fear about things not going 'our' way.
Is it not that part of a person which fears inattention the 'old self', that Christians need to lose, or not pay attention to.

Thank you for asking. The "complication" turned out to be a garden-variety UTI, easily handled by antibiotics. But peeing red scared her. I'm still concerned that her sense of balance is off and she has to walk with a cane now. I try to always walk right beside her in case she stumbles. And her diabetic neuropathy has gotten worse; she's had to get special tools for ordinary tasks like opening jars because she doesn't have any grip strength or dexterity in her hands. Several members of our church volunteer to help her with transportation and the like, so maybe we're doing something Jesus would approve of.
Well hopefully she'll be OK. It's good she has church to help her. I would be concerned also about the lack of strength and balance.

You're probably right, But actually I had brain fog then boredom then I was hyper and then I just physically dropped to the bed. I think I might have had a manic episode. But I'm not sure.

I have to confess that I don't have the learning mindset anymore. That's another thing I lost somewhere along the road.

It doesn't help that I sense some troublesome spirits behind most of the exchanges here.

Time spent alone with the Lord is usually the only place where I learn anything regarding truth from scripture, although I will occasionally pick up something in the midst of researching an issue I'm discussing. What you actually learn on the forums is how to debate what you have learned, and defend it.

And yes, there are some bad spirits behind a lot of what goes on on the forums. I sometimes readily admit I have given myself to one. That's all part of spiritual growth. Trust me, the Christian forums these days are not for the faint of heart. They take a certain metal, and a determination to keep getting up. It can bear good fruit over time, but it's a bit like subjecting yourself to torture in order to become accustomed to what of necessary you will have to endure.

I hate the political and current events stuff 'cause I can't fact-check as fast as people can make up nonsense, so I can't participate without risking false witness.

And even fact-checking isn't reliable. It seems like I have the world on my screen and at my fingertips, but really I'm still just a guy sitting in my house in rural central Pennsylvania.

Yes, well discernment is involved, or it all just becomes a blur. There are some who back out of involvement in things like the prophetic altogether, and go back to more conservative circles (like the Baptists) to return to a more stable version of Christianity, which sounds kind of akin to what you are talking about. I did that at one time, only that doesn't last long either. "More stable" turns into not-all-that-edifying, and then sometimes into downright stale and dead spiritually. But it's a road everybody has to travel in different ways. I'm thankful for what might be regarded as more stable forms of Christianity, but I've seen too much accuracy when it comes to the prophetic not to know it is real, and I think the gifts are too important for the spiritual life of the church to abandon them simply for the sake of spiritual "reliability."

Hey devin553344!

My opinion is that forums and social media in general are a big disappointment when you rely on them too much for a sense of connection.

Think about it, aside from the really controlling people, folks only share a snippet of themselves that they are willing for the online world to see.

We weren't meant to interact that way. So nowadays I try to make forums and social media only a fraction of what I do to feel connected.

I recommend volunteering, phone calls, written cards and letters for real connection and journaling to pass time when everybody's too busy.

Generally, staying online too much always makes me get that feeling like Ive fallen through the cracks.

Thanks Wynona. Good advice. I don't really get online that much and I have health problems that get in my way now so I can't really participate in church yet. I used to about 10 years ago.

Well said Wynona...it's a 'Question of Balance' as the Moody Blues would agree...

Yes indeed dear sister , spend our time focused on the glorious Lord .
We can do real simple things too . As in going to the park and reading the bible .
Me and a sister do this . I read it aloud over the phone and she sets it up on her speakers
as she rides her scooter all over the UK . Yes indeed . Folks get to hear the truth in scriptures .
And other things too . Let the glorious LORD be praised .

What you could do is study a difficult verse or passage in-depth and then post what you have learned (without consulting any commentaries). That would not be boring in the least.
Lol! Without commentaries!
No dictionaries, lexicons?

please explain what is the witness?
Rom_8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
How does He do it?

Blessings
J.
Some are sooo...spiritual, sitting on a cloud,no earthly good.

I had to -liked- this because I can relate to it.

:)
It happens sometimes. We always have this forum and I have online church to keep me interested and in touch. :) I also have family that I interact with so I'm not too disconnected.

Romans 8 tells us it is by the Holy Spirit that we cry Abba, Father.... Similarly, Galatians 4.6.

Hi @Lambano I fully understand what you are sayin'
At this point in your life you do not want spiritual Joe's quoting scriptures at you, people who are not willing to show their scars, we all have scars.
Some are hiding behind "religiosity" and you have noticed that.
Advice
Do not give up on Christ since we all are going through severe testings and trials friend..respond, do not react.
You probably don't feel like praying and that is OK.
Remember, you are NOT alone Lambano.
See? No scriptures!
Blessings dear friend
J.
