When I first got baptised along with my friend and her husband as a follower of Christ. We were so excited. My friend asked me what song I was going to choose while being baptised and what I was going to say. [I had forgotten that she was like a sponge: meaning, she had a habit of taking in what others said and ran with it] I told her what my song was going to be [There's a river of life] and also what I was going to say. Her husband did the same thing.

The following day my friend got baptised first. Unfortunately, she basically took some of my words and her husbands words together as a testimony and also took the song I told her about. This left me standing at the front with nothing to say and scrambling for another song which was "Victory we have in Jesus Christ". :)

When I first become a follower of Christ, I wanted my home group to go out with me and take down all the idols in our town, after reading the story of Josiah in 2 Kings 23:8-20

I used to think i was a Christian because I went to church and Sunday school but
when I first Become A Follower of Christ I could tell the difference straight away: Everything was brighter more colourful and happier and I knew a peace I had never known before.

When I first became a follower of Christ, I went to a night service with my sister and we were listening to a very anointed speaker/evangelist. Every time he came past our seats, I would involuntarily shudder. I told my sister that he was very scary. [probably because of the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling within him] She told me that whenever he comes close to our seats, cross my arms, look him in the eye and say in my mind "You are just a man," it worked too, only I think we missed the whole point of going there and God's presence was very powerful accept it didn't effect us two.....:(

When I first entered my first Pentecostal assembly as one who wanted to be a believer, I thought all of those people were beautiful and holy. I wanted to become like them. I was very naive and it took me a long time to realize how wrong my first impression was even though it was right as well. All of those women with the long hair and dresses! All of those men with suits and ties and short hair!

When I first became a follower of Christ I was so hungry for knowledge of Jesus and loved to learn new things. It was such an exciting time. And then the first time I used my gift of tongues it was to sing a prophecy over myself with the interpretation. Amazing. No better life than being a Christian and in close relationship with God.

When I first became a follower of Christ I remember a mature lady in Christ pointed out how much I cussed which I was completely unaware of at the time. Then this strange little caution feeling came over me everytime I was about to speak. It was like this inner voice saying "do not say that" ;)

When I first became a follower of Christ, all I needed was Jesus and to serve Him.

Over time well meaning people convinced me I needed other things like a college education and a career and financial independence.

Well now I can attest that Jesus and His Kingdom is still what matters. I am a housewife now--- no career. But the joy in life is in serving others and living for Jesus.

I thought that every Christian believed the same thing?
When I first became a Christian I was a gross sinner. Then I repented. Got married and did as instructed by my church. Now I've fallen from the tree a little. I now call myself a sinner. I've read the gospel of Christ and note all he desires us to be like. And I fail often in helping the poor. We are to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, take in the homeless, clothe the naked, visit them in prison or are sick. I don't always do those things, but when I do I'm filled with Love, Peace and Joy.

I understand this completely. I grew up Presbyterian. But my husband's first church as a believer was Apostolic Pentecostal. The congregation was gorgeous. Although I am not big on dress codes, I still appreciate the look and it has influenced what I wear.

Yes, indeed, when it comes to dress codes, my wife and I were strongly influenced on what we wear especially by that first Pentecostal Church even though we do not insist that every should do as we do. You and my wife would likely get along quite well...

Aww! You are so lovable. In my heart, you are like a spiritual grandfather.

I had visions of Angelina throwing a cable around the neck of some statue, hooking it up to the towball of a 4x4, revving the engine and letting loose.

Before I came to Christ in NZ I was with some bad company for a spell. We took out about 10 percent of the street fluorescent lights in our town of about 8k people, with a BB rifle. Popped one then raced up by car to the next one. Now you could say they were all idols of emitting unnatural light in the dark..lol.
