If he didn't say what he meant here, how can we believe he didn't misspeak other times, also?I think Paul meant out of turn. Being invited to speak is another matter.

It's not a circle. I believe Paul's letters are genuine - the Bible doesn't lie - but I think Paul was wrong when he prohibited women from speaking in a church.Oh and the circle continues. But how do you decide which writers are true? Which ones are really quoting God? You have no foundation at all. Wishy Washy. You get to picke and choose what to believe. Good grief.
I'm interpreting nothing - I'm taking him at face value.No I'm refuting your asinine interpretation of what that means.
I think Paul did say what he meant. It's you who are taking it out of context, perhaps overly literally.If he didn't say what he meant here, how can we believe he didn't misspeak other times, also?
Are you okay? Your post is angry and confused. What is all this nonsense? He-Man Woman-Haters Club... it was a neighborhood boys club founded by Spanky and compromising nearly all the boys in the club. Spanky founded the exclusive club as a defense against girls and Valentine's Day, but Alfalfa's heart was just not in it. His love for Darla keeps him from taking it seriously, but Spanky soon forces him to realize the bonds of brotherhood."
The “vise versa” is unbiblical.
“But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” (1 Timothy 2:12)
But the worlds attitude towards God’s word is summed up in this verse:
“I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.” (Hosea 8:12)
No you aren't, you are taking what the english words say at face value without even considering the context of what he is speaking.I'm interpreting nothing - I'm taking him at face value.
Paul's letters are genuine what? Clearly you don't think they are Scripture because you keep dancing around that subject. So, like I said, you are picking and choosing what you think is Bible based on what you agree or do not agree with.It's not a circle. I believe Paul's letters are genuine - the Bible doesn't lie - but I think Paul was wrong when he prohibited women from speaking in a church.
Men have women Employers...they do have authority over their employees.
Women are Police Officers...they do have authority over men.
Men having authority over Women, in context of Scripture, requires the context to be known and understood.
Irrelevant.
Christians amongst themselves must follow biblical precepts.
So the way of the world is how you take scriptures into context?
Wow, what great error!
How did I get angry and confused with such a funny but was Soooo true! I was having fun... but now I'm about to have more fun.... Now it's your turn...
So JIM... I want you to explain to the Women on this site how you think you as a man have authority over them!
Thank you time.... LOL
BTY... Should I refer to you as Spanky from now own???
PAUL
Yes and no. The principle is universal because of his appeal to Eve and the situation of the genders overall, not just in Corinth.When Paul wrote his epistle, he was speaking to a very specific situation.
I’ve reached the same conclusion for different reasons.
For all the bashing of the male ego, as a rule, women do not handle authority well because it exposes the god complex women have, starting with Eve.
The female ego is so gigantic, we cannot even acknowledge it’s existence. Add authority to that and it is a disaster. My ex-wife would not submit to my authority and was extremely emotion driven.
She’d tell me a situation was very emotional AS IF that was a get out of jail card for her disastrous decision-making.
It is hard to submit to authority and most men do it much better than most women. I admit most people in jail are men but that only represents ~1% of the population. However, I think the OP is not about societal deemed authority but divinely deemed authority. A female can be put in a position in our society of authority but these are social constructs not natural constructs, e.g., police, judge, public education instructor, etc.
When Paul wrote his epistle, he was speaking to a very specific situation.
Hello @Bob Estey,It's not a circle. I believe Paul's letters are genuine - the Bible doesn't lie - but I think Paul was wrong when he prohibited women from speaking in a church.
'And the LORD God said,
It is not good that the man should be alone;
I will make him an help meet for him.'
(Gen 2:18)
Hello there, @reformed1689
Adam loved Eve, he named her, she was bone of his bone, flesh of his flesh. God made Eve as a help meet (Genesis 2:18), a companion for Adam. There is nothing unequal in the role of help meet. Their relationship should be mutually beneficial.
'Two are better than one;
because they have a good reward for their labour.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow:
but woe to him that is alone when he falleth;
for he hath not another to help him up.
Again, if two lie together, then they have heat:
but how can one be warm alone?
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him;
and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.'
(Ecc 4:9-18)
The marriage bond should be one of love and mutual respect. Each looking out for the other. God's order, if observed, should provide for a stable loving relationship. The chaos and breakdown of the marriage relationship, with the heartbreak, and psychological instability it causes to all concerned, is the result of not taking heed to God's instruction, and of overturning it. It is resulting in the breakdown of society generally.
The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life was Eve's downfall, beguiled as she was by Satan's wiles: and it is women's downfall generally today, too. They need the loving support of a good man, who orders his household according to God's instruction, and who has the assured loving support of a good woman at the end of the working day.
Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
THEY appease men , they do not stand for biblical truth PEROID .
Paul was very plain: Women shouldn't speak in churches. I disagree.I think Paul did say what he meant. It's you who are taking it out of context, perhaps overly literally.
The Bible is uniquely rich in figurative language usage. In Genesis, God famously said the day you eat the forbidden fruit and sure enough ~900 years later, they surely died.
