Christianity is a belief.....so believe as you wish. Bible only is a belief system. And for most, it will lead them to an eternal stay in heaven. That is a good thing. Now I do say for most, and I do believe that. But still you have Beliefs, Truths, and Facts.
On Judgment Day is Christ going to take exception if you own slaves? This is still happening in the world.
On Judgment Day is Christ going to take exception if you choose not to have a wedding ceremony when you couple up for a marriage?
On Judgment Day is Christ going to take exception if you have several wives?
On Judgment Day is Christ going to take exception if you sell your daughter into sexual slavery....concubinage?
On Judgment Day is Christ going to take exception if you do not allow your daughter to pick her own husband?
On Judgment Day is Christ going to take exception if you followed the silent rule for your women?
Well, am not sure if you can be condemned for such things....the Bible, Christ, the Apostles had plenty of opportunities to set a moratorium on these things and or correct these things and they did not.
Now I do not believe in such things and I am not going to do these things.....because I learnt that from understanding 2000 years of Christianity, not just the first 65 years.....and the funny in all that, is that most Christians believe these things are wrong, but will not admit we learnt that outside of the Bible...The history of Christianity shows that through the centuries Christian learned things....I am saying by the influence of the Holy Spirit....
But what it appears to be is that the Bible only people as time went on they looked over the Bible only fence and saw things they liked or agreed with and sneaked them over the fence and pretend that it came from the Bible. To me it is humorous. And it goes on.
Bible only people denounce science and education....but do they live in log cabins with no electricity and ride horses? Some do like the Amish. But most live their lives surround by science that they paid for. It is truly like a love/hate relationship that the Bible only people live with science and education. But then it gets irrational they pick and choose what they believe about science on what basis?
Do they believe that the world is flat?
Do they believe that disease is caused by demons?
Is PMS caused by demons?
Do stars fall to the earth?
Did the Jews ever multiply in such number as to number with the dust of the earth?
Does the Bible speak against abortion? I mean the actual scenario.
Did Christ return soon? Where the Apostles living in the last days? They never suggested months, years or centuries, much less millenniums.
Evolution as a whole has been proven. Not that I agree entirely with Darwin or science's beliefs on it....for one it is an ever changing belief and I believe it was God driven. Same thing goes for the age of the earth. Is Christ going to deduct points for believing that evolution is true or not? I don't think so. You can be a slave owner with five wives and not believe in evolution and I think you will be fine. Not that it is right, but can Christ condemn you for doing something that is in the Bible?
As I keep saying, I am not a fundamentalist or Bible only, I take the 2000 years of Christianity into account. And it is obvious that we have learned many things after the biblical era that were from God....including women's rights.
Now the old fuddy duddies have been juggling this stuff for years, it is the youth that I am concerned with. They are beginning to look at the Bible only beliefs as a fantasy...A lot of them are playing on Smartphones that can talk to anyone in the world and a world of information is at their finger tips. So they go to church and listen to a preacher and Sunday school teacher denounce science and say it is all bunk and they are holding Smartphone in their hand that has 250,000 times the computing power than the computers that sent man to the moon. So the Sunday school teacher and his kids climb into their dad's Ford pickup that has over 32 processors in it and drive home and watch TV from a satellite that is 20,000 miles away, after they have made popcorn in a microwave oven.
God is real and Christianity is real and science is real and it all exists in reality. No reason to put your head in the sand and sing "There is no place like home! There is no place like home!" We have in fact learned things that are different than what the Bible said. And the future of Christianity....our children depend on us presenting Christianity in the real.
