If by “ Repentance” one means , “ cleaning up ones Act” and does NOT include “ Turning to God as a Lost Sinner who puts their Faith in Jesus to Save them, he is one that will remain Lost

Many people today are “ repenting” their way to Hell....
Repentance only qualifies the person for the 2nd step of Acts 2:38, so one can be baptized in the name of jesus Christ FOR THE remission of their sins....

38 Then Peter said unto them, (step 1)Repent, and be (step 2)baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,...

Baptism for the remission of sins is pointless unless you have first repented and accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Full immersion Baptism is then a symbol of the death of the old you and rising out of the waters as a new you.

Luke 7:50......” Jesus said to the woman ‘ your *FAITH” in Me has “SAVED” You.....go in peace “

Wanna wind up the same way that woman did? One can show their Faith in Jesus in this Present Age Of Grace by simply Resting in Paul’s Gospel ( Given to Him by Jesus) —- Simply Believe that Jesus “Died for your Sins and Rose from the Grave”.....
That was before Jesus died and resurrected and sent back his spirit at Pentecost in Acts 2.

That was OT.

You need a Bible study.

I think that Not going “ Beyond” Acts 2:38 is a serious mistake.......Acts is a Transitional Book.....one must FINISH the Book to get the proper Doctrine that is applicable for today....
Acts is a documentary of what it takes to be in the original church, not a "transitional" book.

Not even the RCC will teach that baloney.

Of course! If you were a Jewish man that lived 2000 years ago and just happened to be in Peters audience that day ......otherwise, follow the most recent command of Jesus —- “ Follow Paul as he follows Christ” .....you “ Follow Paul” By Putting your Faith in the Gospel That Jesus revealed to him....it’s found in 1Cor15:1-4 .....Paul said that it is the Thing that God is going to ask you about on Judgement Day....A wise man would start being concerned about his Obedience—- the “ Obedience to the Gospel”.....
Do you follow Paul here?...

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

You cannot be saved unless you were buried with Christ in baptism first.

Jesus was not, nor is an Acts skipper.

He invented Acts.

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

What am I failing to see here?

I have no idea what you're failing to see. Again, you're building an entire doctrine on a few out-of-context words.

Water baptism is a command of Christ. It's a ceremony performed by another man, you cannot baptize yourself.

If that ceremony, as Pearl said, is performed in the right mindset, a symbol of your initial salvation being buried in Christ, it is accepted by God.

If that ceremony is made a requirement for salvation, it has become a work of man and not accepted by God. Your faith is not entirely in the finished work of Christ on the Cross. You have made the ceremony a Law and grace is void.

Rom. 4:14

"For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:"

Rom. 11:5-6

"Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."

Pearl is correct. Why are you so hung up on one verse? You're building an entire doctrine on a few out-of-context words.
It(Acts 2:38) is the lone foundational verse for sinners to be saved in the NT church, immediately adhered to in history by 3000 as a testimony of it's seriousness for all future sinners to do the same.

Is highlighting "out of context"?

Are we "saved by preaching" by another man or not?

You are preaching a false gospel. How will anybody know to be baptised unless they are born again?

Well said. Thanks!

It's clear that "Truther" is obsessed with one out-of-context verse and is trying to accuse everyone who doesn't agree with him about its meaning. It's very, very sad.

You are preaching a false gospel. How will anybody know to be baptised unless they are born again?
Because they believe and repent of their sins first.

This qualifies baptism in the name of Jesus specifically designed to remit their sins....

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins...

Are you serious??? You are taking one verse out of context and building your personal doctrine on it. You're a rest-of-the-Bible skipper!
