“I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.”

The Apostles’ Creed | The Church of England

Did the Holy Spirit conceive Jesus or did the virgin Mary conceive Jesus?

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son …”

(Luke 1:31, NASB)

The virgin Mary conceived Jesus in her womb (and gave birth to him).

Why does the Creed say the Holy Spirit - not the Virgin Mary - conceived Jesus?

Rather, it demonstrates an agenda that is anti-gospel.
Why do you prefer not to be saved by the only savior?

Except for what the Gospel actually says,not a twisted, illogical interpretation of it you demand. Remember, you got nothing like. ;

You got nothing that comes close to ‘The nature of God is a trinity - consisting of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit who are co-equal, co-substantial and co-eternal - and if you do not believe this, you cannot be saved but are damned to hell forever.’

Those 144,000 were predestined.

Makes ya wonder why they knock on doors to make converts.
They are usually good people as individuals. Acting as a congregation though I know a girl who was JW and she got pregnant by someone who was not a JW and she wasn't married. They basically excommunicated her.

That's sad.

Not exclusive for JW's unfortunately.

I knew a couple who were engaged and members of a Fundy Baptist church.
She got pregnant before marriage. They sought counseling from the pastor who was to marry them.

He told them they'd have to confess their sin before the entire congregation, and ask forgiveness, or he wouldn't perform the ceremony.

They did. And he renigged. His pervert junior pastor stood in his stead.

Cults are crafty.

You can probably find examples of unchristian behavior in every denomination

Nothing like?

When God's own word tells us he was our savior Jesus and you deny that and him, I'm not the one holding onto nothing.

Savior Jesus is God. And God is the only Savior.

Your words deny that fact.
They shall never over come the fact.

Agency. You are deliberately confounding Gods words. He is the savior and has chosen Jesus as the agent of our salvation. That doesn’t make Jesus God.
God makes Jesus God.
You argue against God's words in both old and new testaments that testify of that fact.

You insist.
Even against why God had to be Jesus in order to bring the salvation covenant to life.

I can give you a verse or 5 on that He likes worship. My question is an honest one. I want to know why so many Christians feel the need to believe Jesus is God. What's in it for them?
#1, scripture bears out over and over and over that Jesus is God.
#2, God's Word is true.

Romans 3:3-4
[3]For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
[4]God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Like quietthinker said, making Jesus our God demands we first abdicate the throne to Him...an absolute necessity if we're to be saved.

The "mystery of iniquity" is the inexplicable desire of the creature to exalt himself to the level of his Creator, while the "mystery of Godliness" is the inexplicable redeeming love that compelled our Creator to humble Himself to the level of His creatures.

I never read about any such mysteries in the Bible.

Just the truth....that we know who/what we worship and have our faith in. But why does there have to be something in it for us? It's not about us, but glorifying God.

Well, because I believe Jesus is not God. So for me I have to try to figure out why anyone would want him to be God. There's nothing in the Scriptures that gives any reason for him to be God which is why nobody can find a verse.

Well, I think of it this way... Jesus brings us to the Father. As mediator between God and man, it was necessary that He be both. IN Him and THROUGH Him man comes to the Father. Like a bridge, He bridges both man and the Divine.

Also not sure He could have risen from the dead if He weren't God. I would have to check the pertinent scriptures again, but think that is the reason the grave couldn't hold Him.

What are your thoughts on the question?

1.) Do you have a verse that says Jesus had to be both God and man to be the mediator?
2.) I can't get to your question as to why the grave could not hold him because I can't get past the fact that God can't die.

Your father begot another like unto himself. Same as all creation... Like begets like.
The Son was the express image of the Father. Imperfect humans beget imperfect images of themselves. But they are the same species of being. Would a perfect God beget anything that is not a perfect image of Himself? And a different species other than I AM WHO AM?

And Mary was what?

1.) Human
2.) A perfect human
3.) A god woman
4.) The mother of God

I did to my satisfaction. God is holy, and sinless. The lamb must be spotless, and not a human is since Adam sinned. I should think the why is obvious. But God can't die, so He must also be human. He had to be BOTH.

Someone cannot be both of something. I cannot be both male and female. I cannot be both human and a horse.

I'm not talking about the incarnation. I'm talking about the nature of the Person God sent. For God so loved the world, that He sent His only Begotten Son... God didn't send a created angel to become a man... He sent His Son. Read Philippians 2.
