I suppose I'm too fickle to pick one picture (in one area) to look at--possibly, or at least know that it's there--for the rest of my life and then to have it deteriorate into wrinkles as I age.
@dhh712 Sometimes it's favorite Bible verses or references rather than a picture.

But I understand that you're not planning to use a tattoo parlor any time soon.

Sometimes when a tattoo is gotten, anyway, the practice is to go back after a few years to freshen the ink; this may be relevant for example if it's a favorite Bible verse that is starting to fade with the years.

All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have received them for witness tool purposes, anyway. Then, again, sometimes the really young people seem to have little concept of the years ahead (when in the case of tattoos it might be necessary to have the ink freshened).

$100.00+ an hour so yeah.
@Mantis

It's clear that for the service there is a wide call for it.

A lot of the designs under demand would be faith based:

Paula Castle took up tattooing after being made redundant from a sales job ..."I really did not want to do it. ...But I’m a bit of an all or nothing person so I said ‘yes’ and really pushed myself and I’ve not stopped...About 97% of my clients are female and that is universal across the board."

I do have a cross tattoo...Reno also has a lot of tattoo places. Carson City has a few. Most people travel to Reno or Las Vegas for it.
I have 1 tattoo and I got it in Reno.

I felt good about it. ..I was 50 when I had mine done, and two of my sons had various tattoos long before me.. With my son's it had nothing to do with my feelings as a Christian, it was more a reality check that they were making decisions that I had little control over.With me it was more an inspiration...I made the decision with a mature head on my shoulders.
..shortly after getting my tattoo done .. the dentist ask me about it - it opened up a conversation that would not have come about at all..I honestly felt OK about getting the tattoo in the first place.( I had weighed everything up , talked to my pastor, reflected on scripture ) The conversation surprised me, and it did serve as an encouragment at the time. I have had quite a few conversations at work when people notice it.

@dhh712 Re. your recent comment, in some ways it's comparable to what @2 Chr. 34:19 said in her post:

I have a forty yr old tatt-they look ridiculous on wrinkly old skin :)

You are accurate in that because for many women as well as men it's become such an established practice, the matter of wrinkles within a tattoo is a relevant consideration.

Young ppl who have them done sometimes have little concept of the passing of the decades.

My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist are. One can understand the very strong commitment to testify which may have lain behind such a step of inking commitment. Such a step also implies being ready to go back to a tattoo artist an freshen the ink after years of fading and even wrinkling of the skin.

She actually has three tattoos. I have two, so she has more than me. :) ... Actually, last year she got two tats the same day. One is ‘faith’ and ‘believe’. .. She had a heart with butterfly wings on her left leg before we started dating.
@SovereignGrace In some ways I wish there were more Christian tattoo artists; there is such a lot of scope for faith based designs.

@Mantis So has your daughter that you mentioned shown any interesting in working as a tattoo artist as opposed to getting tattooed?
No man she is unmotivated to do anything career wise. And she has some self esteem issues and doesn’t think of herself of a good artist. But she is good. She has natural talent. I am not sure how to encourage her.

@Mantis

Well, I guess the person needs to feel the urge to do it first.

I saw this quote about someone who wasn't motivated at first but became motivated:

Paula Castle took up tattooing after being made redundant from a sales job ..."I really did not want to do it. ...But I’m a bit of an all or nothing person so I said ‘yes’ and really pushed myself and I’ve not stopped...About 97% of my clients are female and that is universal across the board."

I voted just moments ago when you told me about it…
@Michiah-Imla

Thank-you.

It's interesting that some ppl get into tattooing work because it simply fits their economic circumstances. I saw this quote:

Paula Castle took up tattooing after being made redundant from a sales job ..."I really did not want to do it. ...But I’m a bit of an all or nothing person so I said ‘yes’ and really pushed myself and I’ve not stopped...About 97% of my clients are female and that is universal across the board."
