Believe me, I have posted, text, shown and shared my tattoos with all I know and love !
@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d

So having finally started your tattoo journey, are you actively planning to go back to the young man who tattooed you for the first time - maybe for something overtly faith based?

(Or maybe starting to have regrets instead?)

YW. It's anyway undeniable that it's something that some demographics especially experience the strong urge to go do, so often in faith based designs.

Probably 75% of the congregation have tattoos, including myself and the Pastor ..
I have a tattoo, I am not ashamed of it ..I also agree that it makes a statement of freedom in Christ. .. We got a lot of folks inked in our Church. Myself, the Pastor, his daughter and grand daughter included. Now, even my wife

@Heart2Soul 's observations are just absolutely accurate indeed about the strong urge when she said:
it is becoming a norm with health professionals...It is becoming a tool people are using to let others identify their faith. ..I do like the idea of Christian based tattoos

And when funds permit, a coming of age inking strong urge does so often seem to start at 18.

I just enjoyed getting high. It’s something I was introduced to around 16. I can become very addicted to weed. It’s a suppression of all emotions and thoughts for me.

people will say it’s okay God made it but it does very bad things to those who abuse it.

I see; my post was actually talking about tattoos, not weed.

I do think this verse is challenging: "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world" (Titus 2.12); verse 13, speaking of the believer's 'blessed hope', follows on. Some believers find that a modestly placed faith based tattoo can act as a witness tool to 'be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear' (1 Peter 3.15).

Hi @Behold , from back a bit:
-
you can get a blue and red tattoo of a Cross on your back.... while all your sins were paid for by THE Savior's Blood on THE Cross.

The inward and spiritual reality should indeed be there before anyone wants to use a faith based tattoo as a witness tool.

Some believers find it acts as a tool 'be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear' (1 Peter 3.15).

All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have received them as witness tools, anyway.

Oh yes, denying yourself and picking up the cross and following after Christ is difficult.

The first part of it all being denying the self - and waiting on the Lord being moved by the spirit.

My mother in law had her eyebrows tattooed. Afterward she often looked surprised.

Much love!
from back @marks I think your post is a reminder that there are rather vastly different degrees of tattooing. Some of it would be widely regarded as rather benign - as maybe of the variety you described.

So really many ppl will think it's a case of liking/disliking some tattoos on some ppl rather than all tattoos on all ppl, etc.

@MatthewG A Bible verse tattoo can serve as a personal reminder as well as a witness tool.....

Tattoos are effective, so is just speaking about the Lord or hearing people out about their problems and issues and praying with others.

@MatthewG Oh I agree that they are not necessary as such; it's the power of the Word of God and the personal testimony that count, indeed.

Bible verse tattoos, etc. do in many ppl's experience make for effective tools in witness conversations. Not least because they are so widespread that getting a tattoo is hardly out of the ordinary. So many Christians thus embrace the opportunity.

They are sometimes perceived to be so effective, even, that older Christians have been known to regret not having gotten one years previously:

Dave L said:
I think when I was a young Christian, a scripture or Christian art Tattoo would have helped me stake a claim as a Christian and made people aware early on. It would have helped sort out friends from the start. So I regret not having that as an option during that time. .. If I found myself in a similar situation to when I was young, I'd probably have a tattoo.

Yet while many Christians do it with confidence and relish, seeing them as effective witness tools, there are also likely to be those who prefer to keep old fashioned concepts of what is suitable.

The problem is many people mix the law of Christ with their own personal conscience, can causes unnecessary grievances.

Hi @robert derrick Yes; inevitable, some Christians are going to prefer one thing and some another:

I have Christian friends who have them. They usually have their favorite Bible verse tattooed on a wrist--sometimes on the lower leg.

This is only to be expected, perhaps also in the light of Romans 14.
