The Holy Spirit IS God.Lets look at the facts:
1) The Father has a name-YHWH(Jehovah) - The son has a name-Jesus--Holy spirit-0
2) The Father sits on a throne-- The son sits on a throne-- Holy spirit-0
3) The Father shares things with the son-Holy spirit-0
4) The Father teaches the son- Holy spirit-0
5)Many important passages mention God and the son-Holy spirit-maybe 2-- The important one = John 17:3--One must know the Father-THE ONLY TRUE GOD and the one he sent forth-Jesus to get eternal life- Holy spirit-0
The answer i believe is no the Holy spirit is not a being, but Gods active force according to all that bible evidence.
The New Catholic encyclopedia 1967-Vol XIII page 575-- The majority of New testament texts reveals Gods spirit as something, not someone.
Some religions teach it is a living being, what do you think seeing all the real evidence?
Let's look at the facts:
"God is a spirit ... "
John 4:24
Where did Jesus get His fatherly contribution to His conception?
"And the angel said unto her (Mary), The Holy Ghost (Spirit) shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest (Most High/God) shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy (One) which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."
Luke 1:35
What did Jesus say about how He (the Holy Spirit/God) would come to live within believers?
"He that hath My Commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him.
*Judas asks for explanation*
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abode with him."
John 14:21-23
(Note: there is ZERO mention of the Holy Spirit as any third party AND Jesus refers to He AND the Father as HIMSELF (one person).
What does Paul say about who/what the Spirit is?
"... ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. ... if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is Life because of righteousness (of God). ... if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you."
Romans 8:9-11
(Note: Whose Spirit is it that dwells in believers? Paul refers to the Spirit of Christ and the Spirit of God (God IS a Spirit - John 4:24) interchangeably for a reason.
Is the Holy Spirit a living being equal to God?
No.
The Holy Spirit IS GOD.
And Christ IS that Spirit.
