Why do some "churches" omit the word "Satan" in Jesus' reference to Peter when there is absolutely no basis for doing so? While it's true that Peter was a man of God for sure, that was not always the case. Before he boldly declared to the unbelieving Jewish leaders, "We ought to obey God rather than men", he denied our Lord three times. He had to be rebuked "to the face" by Paul, who is Scripturally far more prominent than Peter, having written most of the New Testament and who's evangelistic efforts are primarily focused upon therein.
However, there was an occult practitioner, one named Simon Magus aka Simon Peter...Simone PETER. Could this be the "Peter" which is the one to whom is claimed to be the "Peter" to which others claim to be a "successor"?
