Who decides what truth is?
And don't say, "The Bible." There is no consensus on what it means.
It's matter of whether you choose to believe what you read, or if you choose to try to figure out some way it's not really true.

Don't tell me how to answer for myself. If you don't like the Bible, that's on you. There is a great deal of consensus on what it means, only, not all men have faith. God tells us truth, we can listen, or not.

Much love!

... I can just imagine what was happening with that Eunuch! If it was anything like what happened to me, he was dancing all over the place!
Do you think that you dancing was the spirit of God making you dance?

Do you have any biblical reference to a first-century Christian (in some biblical story) who, upon being anointed with holy spirit, began to dance?

I was kidding. I didn't dance. But I wouldn't speak against it. I just don't dance. But David did, and when his wife mocked him God hit her barren! God loves dancing before Him.

Do you believe in a forever burning hell?
That God predestined the vast majority to burn in sadistic torture forever with no hope of escape?
That a finite crime will be met with infinite punishment? Is that justice?
That those who have never so much as heard the name of Jesus will suffer such a fate?
Is this what you call truth?

I know you don't even though the Bible teaches that. But this thread is about tongues. Same rules apply. You have to choose whether you will accept the Biblical teaching as truth.

Much love!

Hell burns forever, because it was made for Satan and his angels who are immortal.

Humans became mortal when Adam sinned a sin unto death. We inherited that death. So those sinners we know who will go to hell will be punished with many stripes or few stripes. What that means I have no idea. But I think the lake of fire is annihilation. There is no tree of life there to live forever in punishment.

Do you think that when the holy spirit was at work in ancient Israelite men like Samson, Gideon, Saul, David and others, the process was identical to when first century Christians were anointed?

I don't know, but I have thought about it. Kings and Prophets were anointed and were filled with the Spirit. Does that mean they didn't have a sin nature any longer like a born again Christian, I don't know.

Good idea. Let's talk about the biblical teachings about tongues. Are you for, or against?

Yeap, it is dificult to deduce ... but there was something particular in the case of anointed Christians.
Can you think on what I am talking about?

Where does 1 Corinthians 1: 1-9 lead us???

What is the desired intent???

To what conclusion???
Where does 1 Cor 1:1-9 lead the CORINTHIANS to whom it was written? What WAS the desired intent for THEM? To what conclusion for THEM based on their issues and in their time? These are the questions that should be asked. A then, after you've CORRECTLY digested the Corinthian letter, what can be gleaned from it that applies go us today???

We can do what Jesus could do. I can't think of anything supernatural that Saul could do.

Can you?

You were not present when Christians in Jerusalem received the holy spirit directly from Jesus after he received it from the Father ...

Luke 24:49 And, look! I am sending forth upon YOU that which is promised by my Father. YOU, though, abide in the city until YOU become clothed with power from on high.”

John 14:15 “If you love me, you will observe my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father and he will give you another helper to be with you forever, 17 the spirit of the truth, which the world cannot receive, because it neither sees it nor knows it. (...)
... 15:26 When the helper comes that I will send you from the Father, the spirit of the truth, which comes from the Father, that one will bear witness about me
... 16:7 Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth, it is for your benefit that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the helper will not come to you; but if I do go, I will send him to you.

Acts 1:4 While he was meeting with them, he ordered them: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but keep waiting for what the Father has promised, about which you heard from me; 5 for John, indeed, baptized with water, but you will be baptized with holy spirit not many days after this.
... 2:4 and they all became filled with holy spirit and started to speak in different languages, just as the spirit enabled them to speak. (...) 32 God resurrected this Jesus, and of this we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore, because he was exalted to the right hand of God and received the promised holy spirit from the Father, he has poured out what you see and hear.

So, you are an Annihilationist. Okay, I can respect that.
What do you suppose that I believe?

It really doesn't matter as there is no good prize for finding out who's right!

You underlined speaking in tongues. We can all speak in tongues, though I don't use it for prayer anymore. What else are you thinking of? Although I don't recall anyone in the OT speaking in tongues.

That a finite crime
Where do you get this from? You rebel against the Infinite Creator, and you define the terms of the crime? Do you see what I'm getting at with these posts? "Oh, it's not that bad . . .", said the perp.

Who is judge over whom???

Much love!
