YES!

And I know from experience we can be soft in love and hard in love. Jesus had the hard love with the pharisees and soft with the suffered.

To me prayer and faith to confront someone who is irritating me is a better way to go than to sit and stew these days. I used to be sacred to ask them why they are being (*insert mean actions here*) but avoiding conflict is not healthy in the long run.

So Love must have prayer and faith present in order for fruit to be produced. I can like someone because of what they do for me, but in order for a relationship to grow I must Love them.

Good topic thanks
Thanks for the prayers my friend . but remember weep not for me , WEEP for them .

My prayer icon is just me asking God what to reply to you thats all. I have no problem with what you said, its sound, I was just in the process of understanding and recognising the truth in what you say. You seem to have a way with words that I am not used to.

what is a cumbiya?

what is a cumbiya?

A misspelling of "Kumbaya".

Kumbaya is a traditional American folk song we learned to sing in elementary school and in Boy Scout camps. The words "Kum Ba Ya" are allegedly Gullah (or Creole, or some other dialect) for "Come By Here".

Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbaya

Someone's singing Lord, kumbaya
Someone's singing Lord, kumbaya
Someone's singing Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbayah

Someone's laughing, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's laughing, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's laughing, Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbaya

Someone's crying, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's crying, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's crying, Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbaya

Someone's praying, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's praying, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's praying, Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbaya

Someone's sleeping, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's sleeping, Lord, kumbaya
Someone's sleeping, Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbaya

I will note that the song's title is used in contemporary American slang to derisively refer to a superficial peace or consensus that does not address the underlying issues in the conflict. "Oh, we'll just hold hands around the campfire and sing Kumbaya together." That's kind of a shame, because invoking the Lord to be with us in all circumstances is a noble desire.

As Christians, we are commanded to "love everyone".
But that doesn't mean we need to LIKE them, right? RIGHT?

Discussion questions:
- Have you found yourself in the position of having to "love" someone that is unlovable?
- What does it mean to "like" someone?
- Is "like" greater than, or even EQUAL to, love?

Christian #1: "I love you, but I don't like you."
Christian #2: "Say what?"
Christian #1: "The Bible says I have to love you, but it doesn't say I have to like you."
Christian #2: "That doesn't sound like love to me."
Christian #1: "That's your problem."
Christian #2: "It sounds more like YOUR problem"
Christian #1: "My problem?"
Christian #2: "Yes. If you don't like me. how can you say you love me?"
Christian #1: "The Bible doesn't say anything about me liking you."
Christian #2: "That seems like a workaround."
Christian #1: "A workaround?"
Christian #2: "Yes, you are working around loving me when you really don't."
Christian #1: "I see."
Christian #2: "Can I buy you a cup of coffee?"
Christian #1: "I would like that."
Christian #2: "Well, that's a start."

Jesus did not enter the temple handing out coffee and saying HEY I LIKE you , wanna a cup .
BUT HE SURE DID ALL that was GOOD and NECESSARY , TO include ALL of HIS dire warnings to every word and thing
HE ever did . SO how about we learn that JESUS , HIS doctrine , the Apostels , their doctrine which came OF HIM
by the SPIRIT . when is the church age gonna figure out
ya cant go around trying to be THE WORLDS FRIEND . rather we do what is best for all .
WHICH ALSO INCLUDES to not allow SIN upon them , b ut to CORRECT THEM .
yeah enough with this rianbow div erse love stuff . It aint saving anyone , and its actually
destroying even churches from within .

Shoot its true.

I dont like some people and could careless what they got to say.

I'll ignore a person knowing that its in my best interest completely.

They got their own life to live.

that doesnt mean I wouldnt eat a meal with them...

Lol...

Dont live in a fantasy world in which is not reality...

Get real.

in other words its shut up about my sin . I do as i do . mathew oh mathew
dont you find it rather odd
that a whole lot of folks like to sit under a jesus that doesnt seem to have a problem
with what they do and rather whispers to them , HEY them haters that are correcting you are legalistic monsters .
Rather odd that many seem to follow a jesus that sure seems to say do as thou wilt , just be sure to give to the poor .
Dont ya find that odd , seeing the JESUS in the bible had a lot to say my friend . A lot of warnings too .
yeah . but todays jesus seems to hold rainbows and maryjane pipes
and says OH dude relax man , its all good , stop hating .

I think its more about the sin than the person. Though its easy to step into disliking the person.

This seems a human trait. We tend to like those closer to us or who are like minded and view the out group as distant or different and sometimes a threat. Our base animal instincts for survival of the self over others.

But Christ love is counter to this and goes against our fallen natures. Its a complete flip and sometimes our base instincts step in and we have to remember Christs example.

I think this is basically Christianity. The battle of being transformed by Christs sacrificial love so that we may also display such love to others.

Two aspects of ourselves and nature fighting to stay alive. But when we are born again of the spirit we can overcome the flesh. There is no other way. In fact without Christ all we have is our fallen natures which desire the flesh.

So not only are we transformed in spirit but also in mind. Our thoughts and desires are to please God rather than our flesh natures. But it is Christs sacrificial love that defeats the flesh. It has no answer or power as Gods spirit risies above the flesh.

We can then know how Christ loved us despite our sin. That we are made in Gods image and good. But sin is the evil that makes good into all things bad like hate and envy of others. Thats why the 2nd greatest commandment if to love others as ourselves. Because all sin involves another and how we treat them.
