His neck arteries are clogged....100% and 70% was what his wife told me. The surgery is dangerous but he wants to have it.Perhaps he could try eating alot of carbs and fibre and work out.
Thanks great News - my dad was awake when they put his stents in years ago.My neighbor Doug had the neck arteries surgery yesterday. His wife phoned and said he is feeling well. A lot of people were praying for him. They are appreciative of the prayers. They were praying too.
The surgeon didn't want to put him under general anesthesia. So they gave him local anesthesia and put stents in. They felt it would be better for him to be awake so he could tell them if anything felt amiss.
Thanks for praying.
praying. If I can remember, tomorrow I will add his name to our church prayer chain. Thanks Depb, sure hope they do it soon as it's a bit concerning if they are completely blocked, would have thought that was an emergency.
So sorry to hear this, but pleased they found it, although does that mean he had a stroke or discovered it in a follow up scan ?Update from Patty. Doug is back in the hospital and they found a blood clot on his brain.

I believe they were putting him on different blood thinners, wonder if they equally haven’t worked like the previous ones. Do they use warfarin in the States ?
I know my dad had to come off his warfarin before he had any surgeries, he wasn’t on warfarin when he had the stent put in but went on it afterwards. This blood thinner has to be monitored and the blood clotting time checked every two weeks to get the right dose each time. This is continuous as it is rat poison, but it does the job. My dad use to have to go to his local pharmacist every two weeks, if it was stable then it would be once a month.Patty said Doug's legs started to feel numb so she took him to the ER at 1 am. That's when they did a scan or something and found out about the blood clot.
He said he was so tired and was crying at home. And Patty is tired too.
I've heard of Warfarin. I can't recall what they changed him to now. Patty said they had him on something for four days before the surgery. She's thinking they saw something during the surgery... because they changed his blood thinner now.

They have been through a lot and so much time waiting for ops ect. Do you know if they are going to operate to remove the clot or try to disperse it ?
Sorry for this very serious situation, I guess within your family of relatives or friends. I truly hope they get real permanent relief very soon and you as well. I will have them in my mind and heart as I carry them with me during my daily activities. I will call upon my God to let him know I care for them and yourself. We together will shed the love of God to you and your friends with my companion and constant friend, Yeshua, at my side.Patty didn't say anything about the doctors giving Doug instructions when they sent him home. She thought he could go for a checkup each year...I said maybe go every six months. But that's Los Angeles for you...they said nothing about him getting more frequent checkups.
When Patty phoned to ask for prayers, she only told me about the blood clot. But while she was on the phone, Doug texted her. So she phoned him to see if he got an update...but I will wait for her to phone me since she's so busy.

Thanks Deb for the infoDoug and Patty are my neighbors...they live downstairs. Patty sometimes gets me a couple of items at the grocery store. And if Doug gets extra food from his job, they give me a plate sometimes. We've all been in this apartment building for a long time.
