Adam wasn't deceived. He went into the taste test with eyes wide open. Problem though, his eyes were wide open toward Eve, and didn't trust God to fix things should he disobey.Agreed.
A&E had no intention of disobeying. They had to be deceived.
That's a ferocious lesson. We think that God is so kind and patient that there are no ramifications for unrepentant disobedience. But the wages of sin is still death, regardless our Christian profession. Even for prophets.Something similar happened to the prophet who turned back and ate in Bethel against the Lord's command in 1 Kings 13. Except the old prophet did not decieve him with malicious intent. Nevertheless the young prophet died, the Lord sent a lion to kill him.
That is an interesting and deeply thoughtful expression. The exposing of false worship in the last days, in the face of immense persecution and the hatred of all nations, will encapsulate all last days scenarios. Revelation 12,13 and 14 explode with what you term, false solemnity.Yahweh intervened decisively to strip sin of its false solemnity.
Hello St. StevenWhere did Jesus go for three days before His resurrection?
You proceed to explain to me the deceptionAdam wasn't deceived. He went into the taste test with eyes wide open.
Problem though, his eyes were wide open toward Eve, and didn't trust God to fix things should he disobey.
He said he would be "three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."Hello St. Steven
He was in the garden, he was being crucified and then he was in a tomb.
Christ was dead from Friday Evening to Sunday Morning.
He was not dead for three days.
It seems that he painted himself into a corner by telling Eve not to touch.Adam wasn't deceived. He went into the taste test with eyes wide open. Problem though, his eyes were wide open toward Eve, and didn't trust God to fix things should he disobey.
Yes, they asked for a sign and he told them what the sign would be, but he rarely spoke plainly. He said he would be "three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
Where is that? He was laid in an above ground tomb.
This was to be a sign for the unbelievers.
Locally, the graves opened and people came forth.
Matthew 12:40 NIV
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish,
so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
There is more scriptural support for where He went and what He was doing.Yes, they asked for a sign and he told them what the sign would be, but he rarely spoke plainly.
If we take Mat 12:40 literally then the scriptures contradict. Christ could not have been dead and buried for three days and three nights, yet rise on the third day.
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. (Mark 9:31)
Christ was already dead when they took Him down from the cross.Christ could not have been dead and buried for three days and three nights, yet rise on the third day.
Yes.Christ was already dead when they took Him down from the cross.
Does that fit in your timeline?
Does that account for time zones in the realm of the dead?Yes.
Crucified the first day.
At rest the second day.
Resurrected in the morning on the third day.
Yeah but not day light savings time?Does that account for time zones in the realm of the dead?
They call it afterlife? Have you ever heard of biblical first mention? Genesis sets the template for the rest of scripture. Creation sets the template for the nature of man.I don't agree with that.
They don't call it the afterlife for nothing.
I understand that your religion takes a different position and I respect that.
What do you make of this?
Luke 20:38 NIV
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”
The narrative tells us that is where the first man came from, but no one after that. They call it afterlife? Have you ever heard of biblical first mention? Genesis sets the template for the rest of scripture. Creation sets the template for the nature of man.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. ”
Genesis 2:7 KJV
Did they die when they ate thereof? Or was the serpent correct? If one's understanding of the nature of man...e.g. mortality/immortality... is based on scriptures later than Genesis and come to a differ conclusion than what Genesis clearly teaches, then the reader must return to Genesis for truth. When God said to Adam that he would die if he disobeyed, and Satan said you won't die... the Bible says man is mortal and the church says man lives forever in heaven or hell... the Bible compares death to sleep and the church says death is merely separation... who are we to believe?
The fact that they did not eat of the tree of life after they sinned shows there is no such thing as an immortal sinner. Adam and Eve did die. That they didn't die that very day is due to the grace of God giving them an opportunity to repent. Yet they did die spiritually. No longer could they be in the presence of God. They needed an intermediary. The narrative tells us that is where the first man came from, but no one after that.
Did they die when they ate thereof? Or was the serpent correct?
A&E were banned from the garden to prevent them from eating of the Tree of Life and living forever.
Seems they were already mortal. What if they would have eaten of the Tree of Life first?
Maybe immortal is the wrong word for life after physical death. The fact that they did not eat of the tree of life after they sinned shows there is no such thing as an immortal sinner.
What would be the outcome of repentance for them?Adam and Eve did die. That they didn't die that very day is due to the grace of God giving them an opportunity to repent.
Agree. I think that is the death they died in the day that they ate thereof.Yet they did die spiritually.
They were out of the garden. Not sure about out of God's presence. No longer could they be in the presence of God. They needed an intermediary.
There's a HUGE difference between asking questions and attacking the Bible like the Devil. We all have the right to ask questions. God Himself invites us to... come, let us reason together. There is nothing wrong about wanting to understand better Who God is, and what He is like. Jesus condemned nobody for having doubts.
