Doesn’t really answer my question, does it? Here is where you lose credibility. Most Atheists embrace
absolutes and almost nothing is less subjective and evolving than morality. (Although it is oriented toward an individual).
My favorite example of an objective moral code is a quarter pounder at McD’s. It is held to an objective tolerance, such as +/-.025.
Now you can have a different moral code regarding pre-cooked hamburg, either the nominal or tolerance but it remains an
objective standard. Speed limits? Same thing. While I admit many people are amoral, that is, have undefined morals, it doesn’t change the inherent nature of morals. Oh, you value education and being in shape? What have you done in the last decade to advance these morals? Nothing. I call BS on what you claim your morals are.
The ultimate moral standard is life, itself. Again,
objective and
absolute; You are either dead or alive. Here is where the BS ‘subjective and evolving‘ claim is exposed for the fraud that it is. Such moral analysis I learned from an Atheist coworker, who embraced the philosophy of Ayn Rand, Objectivism. In an earlier post, you said you try to live a good, moral life.
- How can you do this if morality is subjective and evolving?
- Conversely, how can you fail to obtain this value?
- And if you don’t objectively know if you’ve obtained what you claim to value, what good are your morals and the whole purpose of your atheist life?
I take it that these questions burn in the minds of any thoughtful person?
Everyone here knows this is the case. God didn’t create the universe for us but for his glory.
I know your point was to establish deism but it goes against all available information.
No, theism ties into science. Did you read the threads on evidence to be seen? First, read my favorite Psalm, Psalm 19. Both, the Big Bang and the ‘spontaneous’ creation of life agree with the Creation event. Emerging science, is pointing again to God, such as Fine Tuning.
I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again that I don’t have enough faith to be an Atheist.
That’s a bold claim after saying morality is subjective; here you are making an objective moral claim!
And by the way, doesn’t that answer my question; that you DO recognize people make
immoral choices?! You’re just being shy about it. LOL
