What is Truth?

The pit of my stomach is sour from all the hypocrisy and false doctrines circulating. I can take disappointment. I can take rejection. I can take the approach of death(sleep) of this physical body. None of it causes me to blame God. But if I have one quarrel with God, and I have quarreled with Him over it… it would be that there are countless interpretations of His word, yet God promised the church the Spirit of Truth? I come here to this blog, which is a fish bowl compared to the vastness of the world, and everyone has a different truth including myself. Any unbeliever would surely come here and be overwhelmed by countless variations of the gospel and assured by each one of us…I know God and have the truth. Which gospel do you think they will prefer? Then the storm will come and they will get to see what their foundation is really made of. I put this post under ethics & morality forum because if we sell people lies, then it is an ethics and morality topic.

Gods word tells us a house divided will not stand.

We are in a spiritual war. I am sorry but it is not:

I want to be rich… for Christs sake.

I want to flourish and prosper and walk in bliss… for Christs sake.

It is: Persecution and suffering…for Christs sake.

I am told, “you are not a mature Christian yet. You just haven’t discovered all Gods promises.” Yes. I have. I am fully aware of all of Gods promises. They are beautiful and wonderful but taken out of context and twisted and abused. Does God heal? Absolutely. without a doubt. To further the gospel and His plan: For Gods plan and progression. Not for the flesh's sake. I am not questioning God's power. I am questioning peoples motives.

I have a friend that sets up a booth in Wal-Mart parking lot advertising: HEALINGS. I have done been there and done that, trying to gain the worlds sight and approval. I was so convinced I had the gift of healings. I could lay my hand on my body and the flesh and muscle would respond, vibrating underneath my hand. Until God revealed what I was promoting. Self. Plain and simple. Look at the stadiums this gospel message packs and it is a wonder that there is a single person left in this entire world in need of healing. I mean, if all those people are then going out and laying hands on people? It is a show and it is nauseating. It tickles peoples’ ears and tells them exactly what they want to hear which is why the stadiums are packed. It is a worldly gospel. Anchored in the world, not the spiritual.

“This is your best life now.” No, it is not. The best is yet to come! I would rather not get too comfortable here. So, I apologize to God for the way that I am and for this pain in my gut over craving real truth. God confirms: The truth is worth agonizing over.

Why so many gospels?

A person either reads God’s word through fleshly eyes, or through spiritual eyes. There is a ton of misinterpretations through the flesh because the flesh only hears and comprehends what it wants to be so, to promote flesh.

Where is truth?

Truth is without the gate. Truth is with the lowly in heart and with the meek.

(Matthew 11: 29) “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

Matthew 5 says, "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

(Hebrews 13:13) “Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.”

Some will say: that gospel is depressing. No, it is not depressing. Not at all. There is great comfort and hope in the gospel of grace.

(Hebrews 13: 14) “For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.”

(1 John 2:17) “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

Bidggest mistake, you cant "read Gods Word:m

Joh_6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

When peopel turn to Christ who is teh truth, and learn to hear His voice, than they will know teh truth and they wil be set free.

God words are not dried up ink stains on the page of a book, they are alive .

GINOLJC, to all. not saying any is right or wrong, but consider this. instead of "WHAT" is truth, may we say "WHO" is TRUTH. JESUS the Christ, John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me". Everything is in him.

It helps to understand that the plan of God [in fact] utilizes confusion and all of the division that is obvious here and in the world. It was God who confused all language (the media used here) world wide...for a reason. The reason is, that all people over all generations would have an equal ability to see the world as good and evil and choose between them - in other words: so no one would have an advantage. This is the grace of God.

But the decision should be easy.

Well God has different callings on different people's lives, some are called to be successful business men, politicians, builders, bricklayers, furniture makers, mechanics, miners, road workers, train drivers, truck drivers & preachers, intercessors, prophets, and some are called to preach the prophetic, healing, faith, joy, love and happiness in Christ, suffering, wisdom, the spiritual, the supernatural, relationships and some are simply called to teach. How many all rounders do you know of? God gives someone a job to do, and they should do it for Jesus for the good of others, this is the Body of Christ, and all the parts are meant to be attached, working together, we all got a role given by God, everyone has a part to play, no role is too great, no role is too small, if you look at the normal jobs God calls some Christians to do and their job descriptions, there is a supernatural side to it too.

@bbyrd009

I don't know what you or stranger reckon, but I reckon Jesus shoots with more than a trillion caliber of love, woohoo. ;)

a first class Waaaah and stuff there VictoryinJesus, just what do you think things ought to be? you like most so called Christians have this view in your own judgment of what the church ought to be and the Christian community ought to be. maybe you should read Jerimiah. here was a nation that had the history they had with the Almighty and look at the way they were, also consider the Israelis when Jesus walked with them and their varying theologies of their day. those in whom the Lord our God sees as what He wants will be saved will be kept by Him and He will not loss one. so what of the rest, bottom line is to keep vigilant for the few that truly love the Lord.

Love for the truth was a favorite theme of Pope John Paul II. “Let us seek the truth about Christ and about his Church!...Let us love the Truth, proclaim the Truth! O Christ, show us the Truth! Be the only Truth for us!” – Agenda for the Third Millennium Pope John Paul II

The Holy Father’s enthusiasm for the truth however is not shared by the secular world. In fact, its citizens, in general, harbor a distinct fear of the truth. This fear may be analyzed on three different levels:

1) that the truth would impose unwanted moral responsibilities on them;

2) that any association with the truth would occasion an air of pretentiousness;

3) that any claim to the truth might expose them to being wrong.

They prefer freedom from moral responsibility, absence of any “holier than thou” attitude and exemption from the possible embarrassment of being in error. Their fears, however, take them from the very light and meaning they long for, and plunge them into a dark void were they are trapped by a misery of their own making. Their flight from the truth is also an entrance into a world of gloom.

These three fears are ill fated, as well as ill founded. First of all, truth is our only avenue to real freedom. “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” John 8:32
ignorance may at times be blissful, but it is never illuminating. St. Augustine once remarked that he had met many people who had been deceived, but never met anyone who wanted to be deceived.

We have a natural hunger for the truth of things. No one ever asks for the wrong time. It is always the “right” time and the truth about things we want to learn. Untruth is not helpful, but truth is like a beacon that shows us the way. This is why the Pope titled his great encyclical on the freeing function of truth as Veritas Splendor (Truth’s Splendor).

When we are lost we want to learn the truth about our situation so that we can be liberated from our confusion. The truth makes us free; untruth binds us to bewilderment. The truth about ourselves awakens us to our moral responsibilities, but we need this awakening in order to become whom we truly are, to advance toward our destiny, to build a meaningful life.

We should welcome the truth that illuminates our moral responsibilities with the same enthusiasm that a person who is lost in the woods and welcomes a compass and a map.

Secondly, the fear that any discovery of truth would make us pretentious is also counterproductive. Truth is not of our own making. Even Christ proclaimed that the truth He illuminated did not spring from Him alone. “My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me” (John 17:6)

Truth is not subjective. It represents the objective order of things. The person who comes to know something of the truth, then should experience humility, not vanity, for he discovers something that is not his.

Christ was emphatic in his denunciation of the Pharisees who claimed to know something of the truth but behaved with a pretentious snobbery. Truth is not he cause of Pharisaism, vanity is.

And both Christ and his Church are unrelenting in their advocacy of humility and in their condemnation of vanity. In fact, it may be far less tolerant of Pharisaism than the secular world. Consider, for example, the comment, “I hate anything fake,” made by Britney Spears, a veritable icon of artificiality and pretense. The secular world awards this kind of duplicity with celebrity.

Thirdly, there is the rather spineless fear that in perusing the truth, we might fall into the embarrassing predicament of being wrong. Again, there is nothing wrong that can reasonably justify this anxiety. We all make mistakes. Not to try something for fear of making a mistake is akin to a paralyzing neurosis that would discourage one from trying anything.

Some people avoid marriage because they fear divorce. Others avoid friendship because they fear rejection. The pursuit of truth presupposes a certain amount of courage. If nothing is ventured, as the maxim goes, nothing is gained.
The fact that truth is indispensable for a meaningful life does not mean that it is always agreeable. Mounting the bathroom scale can be a breathless ascent, because the anxious weight-watcher knows that this simple piece of machinery tells the truth.
But he disconcerting truth that one is overweight may be exactly what one needs if exercising and dieting are to follow. The freedom that health offers may need to be preceded by the disagreeable truth that one is too fat.

Truth is as natural to our minds as oxygen is to our lungs and food is to our digestive system. It is a great mistake to regard the teaching of truth as an imposition. The Church does not, nor can she, “impose” truth.

Rather, she endeavors to propose truths to those who are disposed to receive them. The Vatican’s Declaration of Religious Liberty states that, “The truth cannot impose itself except by virtue of its own truth, as it wins over the mind with gentleness and power. The Church as Guardian of the Truth and Teacher of the Word provides food for hungry minds. She does not impose the truth; no more than do Christians impose food on hungry bodies when they practice this corporeal act of mercy.

She guards it because it needs to be protected against the contamination of error. She teaches it because it is more nourishing than error. Moreover, the truth enables her to teach realistically about the truth of Christ, the truth of the Catholic Church, and the truth of man. Apostles are ministers of love, but they are also servants of the truth.

Thats not Jesus. Thats not bible. Thats not consistant with God.
sure isn't, huh? Oh, you might find a Scripture to misinterpret to make it sound like that is your calling; and it certainly describes most religions. But that is totally antichrist imo.

Sword,

(Matthew 6:5) "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."

One of many verses that indicate: if we receive our reward in the sight of men, then we already have our reward.

(1 Corinthians 9: 18) "What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel."

Scripture is so often taken out of context and manipulated to justify our having more of this world. Example: Matthew 7:11 which says, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?"

Yet in Luke scripture expands on this, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Notice give the Holy Spirit. And with the spirit comes good gifts. I doubt either of these verses refer to watches, expensive cars, and fine homes. God wants us less entangled with this world. Why would God enslave us to ....things. (James 4: 3-4) "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." Why would God want us to sail and ride on TOP of the world, when the world and all its lusts is the enemy of God?

There seems to be a bullhorn attached to the mouths of charismatics and all that is on repeat is: heal the sick, cast of devils and raise the dead!

There is also: preach good tidings unto the meek, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and open the prison of them that are bound.

There is also: lay down your life for the brethren.

Same as there are more gifts of the Spirit to discuss than: healing and tongues. Why are those the only gifts ever discussed...could it be because they bring recognition?

God heals. Even though His scripture is abused. It doesn't make His word any less true.

you like most so called Christians have this view in your own judgment of what the church ought to be and the Christian community ought to be.--Sounds like a judgement of those you feel are so-called Christians and judgmental. How do you think it ought to be? Would it be better to not question anything, to not ask anything, and to just be complacent until Christs return?

What do I want? To assemble with the brethren and help carry their burdens. Question is: who are the brethren? I was raised in a Baptist Hell-fire-and-brimstone church. I don't want to go back there. I am not catholic. Or Lutheran. Or Charismatic. I realize it is not people we fight against but the spiritual(evil) So, I ask: what is truth. Don't misunderstand, I realize God is still in control of chaos and uses it toward His purposes, although He is not the author of confusion.

Thank you for your reply. I will take your suggestion and read Jeremiah.

preach the Gospel don't worry for how others are, no one is the judge of what a Christian or better said a true believer and trusts in Christ is but Jesus Christ Himself. He's the One who has executed the Son of Man to the satisfaction of God, as God sees man ought to be.

that said, do your diligence an leave the rest to Christ and the conviction in the Holy Spirit. repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand was sufficient for Jesus it should be for use. now if someone was to ask you what a Christian should be its Jesus Christ. it takes His Life to live His Life that He has given. human nature has nothing to do with that, and God knows already that no matter what human nature could never compete with God's Nature or compare, or be in the same league or same place. so its a false expectation to expect human nature to be like Christ.

The Holy Father’s enthusiasm for the truth however is not shared by the secular world. In fact, its citizens, in general, harbor a distinct fear of the truth. This fear may be analyzed on three different levels:

1) that the truth would impose unwanted moral responsibilities on them;

2) that any association with the truth would occasion an air of pretentiousness;

3) that any claim to the truth might expose them to being wrong.

Kepha31, I will be honest. I don't see how scripture aligns with Catholic practices. I do not agree with the Mother Mary statues, praying to them, or the positon held by the Pope. It is my belief that the only intercessor needed is Jesus Christ. I am firm on that one. However, I will not dispute there is a lot of truth in your post.

Well the problem here is you are useing this scripture out of context. This is pointing out the hypocricey of the pharisees.
When I pary on the street I am not talking to God but comanding demons to go in Jesus name. I am not like you used to do setting up a camp on the main street./ I see a need I go offer freedom That is scriptural. Not sure why you are against that. Dont be thinking or accusing me of doing it for my glory. I really dont want to do it. I do ot because we are commanded to do what Christ done. But here you are saying I lay hands on the sick for selfish reasons. So you are now judging me and know nothing about me.

You are as guilty of doing what you accused everyone else of doing here in your thread.
This is twisting scripture to make it fit your thinking. You are out of context again. You are accusing me and many others of only praying for the sick for self gain of some sort.
I also see you never came any where near answering my question about how God spoke to you about healing being off the flesh?
Are you going to ignore my question? There is nothing in what you wrote comes near what you claimed God said to you.

What has this got to do with anything I said?

There seems to be a bullhorn attached to the mouths of charismatics and all that is on repeat is: heal the sick, cast of devils and raise the dead!
Jesus said it. And people do it. and you have a problem with them now call them loud mouths. I dont think Jesus will ever say what you said to any of them.

There is also: preach good tidings unto the meek, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and open the prison of them that are bound. There is also: lay down your life for the brethren.
So why do you bring this up as if its something we dont do. what has this got to do with what I said nothing. You failed to answer my question and seem more interested in bringing sown people who at least are out taking a swing whilest the majority do nothing.
You looked like you had a really valid point in your first post. Now you look like the reat you compliamed about and had a sour gut. You are doing exactly the same thing right now. If you dont agree then dont say a word. at least then you are not adding to the whole confusion thing you have a sour gut over. We know all these basic things and some are doing them.

Same as there are more gifts of the Spirit to discuss than: healing and tongues. Why are those the only gifts ever discussed...could it be because they bring recognition?
What do you talk about to do with the other gifts. Do you walk in any of them? Have you shared anything on them in the site? Could you share the minks with me so I can catch up.
All I see in your thread after my post is you doing what mad your gut sour.
Please tell me what God said to you about healing being of the flesh. God will not contradict His word ever. All I see in this is you bringing down Gods sons and daughters. Because you have some sort of problem with THEM.

God heals. Even though His scripture is abused. It doesn't make His word any less true.

I dont know why you went down this road from my very simple question.

Sword, you are right. I am being judgmental and I am sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. Yes, maybe I did. You seem like a guy who really has a heart for helping people. Yes, helping is better than doing nothing. I want people healed as much as you do. I don't like seeing people suffer. But, I am really trying to let go of the tight grip I have on this world, and realize my worth comes from God and the physical body is not God's first priority. It is not you. I have issues to work out which comes off as bitterness. I don't want to be bitter.

That is interesting. When you pray on the streets you are not talking to God? Just who are you talking to? Your so called demonstration of commanding demons is nothing but hypocrisy. You boast of it. As if you are something. Yes, I judge you. And Christians are to judge. Contrary to your foolish statements. I always found that the one that doesn't want to be judged is the one that needs to be judged. Just an observation.

Oh yes, your claims of being out of context and twisting of Scripture are familiar. Yet you are never able to support your claims. I wonder why? Ignorance maybe?

The verses in Luke had everything to do with what you had said. You just didn't want to answer. As ususal. I remember that yeller streak that runs up your back.

I think Jesus would say exactly that. He had no problem declaring one a hypocrite and loud mouth. He had no problem seeing through the guise.

Well, I say, if you don't agree then don't say a word. Perhaps you should keep your mouth shut. Since you don't agree. Oh, I see, you just mean those that don't agree with you. What a laugh that is.

Arn't you something. You boast of gifts. And cut down others who don't boast of gifts. Which somehow makes you superior. Every believer has gifts of the Holy Spirit. Everyone. Not just you. And just because they don't boast of them doesn't mean they don't have them. It means they are more mature in the faith than those who like to boast.

Don't let Sword bring you under condemnation. You are correct in the things you were saying. Being right is not the same as being bitter.
