A lot of americans did too.

So was it bad?
Some singer, can't remember, started a clothes line and was having them made somewhere in the Pacific islands.
She was blasted for this and stopped.
Her company was using child labor.

It sounds terrible to us that have not experienced hunger.
I'll bet those kids were happy to have the job and money.

That's like one of the biggest college football states in the world!
You are correct. I was born in Oklahoma but lived in California from about 1945 until 1985. My brother was always a big Sooner fan, but I left him to do his own thing while I did mine.

Good point, and in an ideal world, everyone would boycott.
But I think you are over reacting.
I remember back in the 70's, the big thing was to boycott grapes because all the grape growers in California were using illegal immigrants.
So I boycotted and I told others, and after a very long time I realized that my boycott was meaningless.
I was missing out on grapes for nothing was going to change.
Then there were other boycotts, most notable was walmart, which got no where because America lives at walmart.
Hollywood stars have been expressing their political views for decades and now millionaire athletes do the same.
So what?
Give up watching a good game of football because of ideals?
You'll find you are all alone in life with no entertainment.

When you say 'so what', you are part of the problem. If you don't want to boycott, that is up to you. Do what you want.

For an overly paid football team to go to another country and disrespect the American flag, but respect the foreign flag is to me such an act that I do not enjoy watching an NFL game. And so I won't.

I don't live for 'entertainment'. And people existed before the NFL did. And somehow managed to survive.

I wouldn't know about that.
All I know is that I have no anger over what millionaire celebrities do, I look out for myself and mine.
You are filled with anger over a worldly issue that is meaningless in the long run.

@Stranger Good opening post.
At least you are standing up for what you believe in.
Here in Alberta ( the oil producing Province) everyone else in Canada had cheaper gas than us..they made us pay top dollar when we produce it!! ( same with Beef too top dollar)
So all the signs went up...don't buy any gas for 48 hours ...
Good idea, but it didn't work....everyone needs gas.
Boycott only works if everyone does it...that is it's weakness.

As I said, people like you are always the problem. You look out for you and yours only. Whatever you can do for you and yours, and the rest can go to hell. What benefits you is the direction you go. You're a weather-vane. Which ever way the wind blows.

I don't have a problem being angry with worldly issues. I am sure you are too spiritual though to experience that. Which begs the question, if it is so meaningless to you, why are you responding?

Indeed. But, it doesn't have to be everyone. Just enough for the owners to feel the pinch in the loss of tickets and sales. And enough loss, means less sponsers for the commericials. Pretty soon they get the idea that they are the tail and not the dog.

I think the real issue behind the complaints about immigrants stealing jobs is not about immigrants at all. It is about crappy wages. Yes, in the 1950s you could raise a family on pumping gas for a living - that was over half a century ago - now immigrants and teenagers pump gas for practically free, here in Oregon. No one wants the job because you can’t pay for the gas to get to work on those low wages.

American workers money is not going to immigrants, it is going to corporations

How could you say these things about someone you don't know?
Taking care of you and yours does not mean that you don't care about anyone else.
The person you're addressing does a lot for others.

The point is that boycotts don't work.
Why suffer or make your family suffer for something that won't work?
Only IF everyone boycotts would it function and this doesn't happen so it becomes pretty useless.

Sometimes one on one help works better.
We each must follow our conscience.

As far as the players...I think it's terrible.
But how do you force someone to respect their country.?
Maybe firing them would work better?

This is true.
Low wages lower wages for all.
True.

But if the pickers got paid a lot, the price of fruit would become so high as to be prohibitive for many.
It's complicated...

And those NFL players are really getting crappy low wages? Not.

I am going by what he said. It doesn't matter if I know him or not. Well, 'taking care of you and yours' means you don't care about anyone else in the manner in which he said it.

You say he does a lot for others. So? His position is as a weather-vane. Which means he takes care of himself.

Boycotts do work if people enforce them. And it doesn't need to be everyone. Just enough to make the deep pockets feel it. But, that takes guts, and some courage, and some suffering. Oh Gee, let us not mention suffering or sacrifice. That is just too much.

I don't want to force someone to respect my country. I just want their ass in jail or sent to another country. I mean, if this country is so terrible to these high paid players, then leave. Yet no one does.

Firing them would be fine if you had an owner that had the...guts...to do it. But alas, money dictates.

White vs Black, Left vs Right, kneel vs stand.........well.....I think you should start seeing how foolish the bickering over this really is. Satan is truly on his job keeping everyone divided. Hell, he even got the NFL in on the action. He got everyone arguing over the way someone pledges allegiance to a piece of cloth. HA!!!

Would it offend Trump and the rest of the delicate flowers if they were to pledge allegiance the old school way, you know, before Hitler and crew gave it a bad reputation?

So this country is your country?
Then where do you stand in the Kingdom of God?
Or is that all make believe to you?

Yeah, and they bicker about this nonsense because the media tells them to. I think I'm going to start saluting the flag with the old Roman salute like Americans used to just to see how people react. :D

I wish you would pay attention to the category where this is posted. 'Political and Current Events'. If you don't like it then stay out of it.
