I have a dictionary. I still don't have answer to my question: Do you believe that your faith and the practice of your faith can and MUST be established from scripture alone without additions from tradition or development? IHS...Mary

What does God say? <---- this is a question not a statement
Are the words from scripture below from God or not? <---- this is a question not a statement
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

What is the question posed by the OP of this thread? Is it Christian like to avoid the question being posed? <---- both of these are questions not statements.

could you quote this pls, might be useful, ty

This quote has been made a number of times in this thread.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

A person can be a Christian and not be associated with a defined sect.

They still have to go to The Church that Jesus established to know The Truth. Because, as you know, The Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth. Which Church is that? IHS...Mary

So you believe a person can be saved without ever being part of any sect right?
Where is it stated that "They still have to go to The Church that Jesus established to know The Truth". In essence you imply that one cannot know the truth from scripture.

I already answered your questions.

Please answer mine:

Do you believe that your faith and the practice of your faith can and MUST be established from scripture alone without additions from tradition or development?

Dear, dear KBCid. I love you. I feel very confident in what I believe. I have told you what I believe and I am not emarrassed to say it. Sola Scriptura is not in the Bible. It is a self defeating theory.

If you are to embarrassed to say what you believe then just let me know and I will leave this thread.

If sola Scriptura is true then show me in the Bible where it says that abortion is wrong or a sin or murder.

Respectfully, Mary

Yes, a person can be saved without belonging to a "sect".

Matthew 18:17 says the church settles our differences. Not you and me throwing passages from scripture at each other and whoever has the most passages on their side wins. The Church decides. Just like scripture says.

I just answered two of your questions. Can you at least answer ONE of mine?

IHS..Mary

or they are under indictment, ya. Think i'll pass on the Peter worship, but ty anyway, i do understand
I read what you write. I had you on my ignore list for about 2-3 weeks because what you write is bizarre.

I have noticed that you worship yourself and what you think. You are your own authority when it comes to scripture. Congratulations. You will never be wrong. You are what they call a church of one. You are your own pope, magisterium and authority.

IHS....Mary

Or the one that we are to go to when our brother sins against us. The one that decides if he is to be treated like a pagan or tax collector, just like scripture says to do.

Or the Church that the gates of hell will not prevail against and whatever it binds and loosens on earth will be done so in Heaven also. You know the that one? It is the pillar and foundation of truth, just like scripture says.

The Church that has bishops, prebysters, ministers, prophets etc. just like scripture says. They are the living stones of The Church.

IHS.....

Does the Catholic Church excommunicate now-a-days?

You have not
Please answer mine: Do you believe that your faith and the practice of your faith can and MUST be established from scripture alone without additions from tradition or development?
The question you ask is not a reply to the question posed in this thread. Let it be asked again;
IF someone such as myself were to say that my understandings for God, Christ and salvation are entirely founded on "Sola Scriptura" does this mean that in other peoples views I could be considered a heretic?

Dear, dear KBCid. I love you. I feel very confident in what I believe. I have told you what I believe and I am not emarrassed to say it. Sola Scriptura is not in the Bible. It is a self defeating theory.
Then you deny the words of God;
Sola Scriptura
was/is a founding principle for protestant Christians and is found as a principle in scripture itself;
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

If you are to embarrassed to say what you believe then just let me know and I will leave this thread. If sola Scriptura is true then show me in the Bible where it says that abortion is wrong or a sin or murder. Respectfully, Mary

Jesus Christ has come in the flesh

It is a shame that you do not see the will of God in scripture....

Gen 9:5 Besides that, I will demand an accounting for your lifeblood. I will demand an accounting from every living creature; and from each man I will demand an accounting for the life of his brother. Anyone shedding man’s blood, by man will his own blood be shed, for in God’s image He made man.

Genesis 25:22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the Lord. 23 And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb...

Psalm 139: Your eyes even saw me as an embryo; All its parts were written in your book Regarding the days when they were formed, Before any of them existed.

“Looking at Old Testament law from a proper cultural and historical context, it is evident that the life of the unborn is put on the same par as a person outside the womb.”
John Jefferson Davis, Abortion and the Christian (Phillipsburg, NJ: Presbyterian & Reformed, 1984), 52.

Exodus 21:22 “If men should struggle with each other and they hurt a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but no fatality results, the offender must pay the damages imposed on him by the husband of the woman; and he must pay it through the judges. But if a fatality does occur, then you must give life for life...

Isaiah 44:24 "Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the One who formed you from the womb...

Num 35:29 These things will serve for you as a statute for judgment throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. 30 “‘Whoever kills a person should be put to death as a murderer on the testimony of witnesses; but no one will be put to death on the testimony of just one witness.

Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

Psalm 127;3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Your implication that there isn't any reprisal for the taking of the life of an unborn child in the old testament laws is without foundation.

You are from an age far removed from the ancient Hebrew language and understanding and because you do not see your modern delineation of a baby (being defined in the same way as you perceive it) in the biblical record you feel confident in indirectly implying that God had less than human morals.

You're implication denigrates God in an attempt to support the works of men.

The Church is the true body of Christ which I seek. If as you say that I can be saved without belonging to a sect then you admit that I can be saved and never join your sect.

I just answered two of your questions. Can you at least answer ONE of mine? IHS..Mary

And the answer is "yes"

YEs no good fruit can come from a bad tree. Im on her ignore list again, not that I care, didnt know I was on it before.

After that last implication against the Father I would be quite glad to be on that list too although I still wouldn't quite feel safe about the possible blast radius that may still occur.

So we have had some interaction in this thread although no direct answer from anyone about whether someone who believes in scripture alone as their guide to Christ and the Father is acceptable or whether such a view is heretical.
The most telling thing that has occurred is the attempt to discredit that scripture can be known at all without the direction of men and this was by judging how God worded the OT via mans English translation.

So, does anyone who loves God know if a person can be considered a heretic if all they have is scripture to work with?
no creeds, no allegiances, no belonging to the church of Paul or Mary or George or captain Kirk?

Does God have the power to reach us directly through his word alone without human intervention.

Now you know bbyrd009 that attempting to be your own God will probably come into conflict with the trinity of satan, the beast and the false prophet since satan wants all the worship for himself.

Just scripture and no Holy Spirit, head knowledge. Just scripture with the Holy Spirit, heart knowledge.

Can anyone love God without the Holy Spirit living in them? How can anyone love God without knowing how much God loves them?
