Sorry Christiang,I give examples of good works in the study. Giving money to the poor, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, etc.
I don't usually check out links.
I like to hear what we have to say as to what we believe in our very own words.
So to make it easier for you, I'll tell you what I think good works are.
Before we become saved, we do works all the time. But we do them for ourselves or others, or nobody.
After we become saved, EVERYTHING we do is for the glory we want to give to God. We could be doing the very same things as before, but FOR GOD.
Jesus did say that we are to obey Him and follow His commands. And He did leave commands. A read through Mathew will prove that to anyone who wants to see.
In the beatitudes, Jesus makes it clear that what He's looking for is a change of heart. However, we cannot stop at the change of heart.
James said that faith without works is dead. A dead faith that is of no value to anyone. So, yes, good works are necessary.
If God tells us to give to the poor, fine.
He might lead us to teach, fine.
He might tell us not to do anything for a while, fine.
If we tire while doing this "work" which HE has asked us to do, I'd question if it was really HIM asking us.
However, anything good that we do after salvation could be called a work for God. A smile to a stranger could make them happy for a moment.
Would you agree?
