Now that he is showering...let's talk more about the Holy Spirit and 'tongues' for short...:D
No more of that pesky debating.
Soooo... I go to a lot of places/gatherings...meeting a group of friends, a gallery opening, whatever...I'm a well-known artist in this city and people say,
'Oh,your Miss H that does the xxx!'
( Anyhoo, I have a reputation...so I must be clear at all times...in case of someone,
a stranger I am pointed out to, takes me aside, in need of some
counseling/help/advice/healing).

On my way to any event, I pray or speak in tongues all the way there...what I have noticed consistently is: When I get there I am 'on'...more so than usual..almost like I was given a drug.
I know myself; I am 'nice, congenial, popular...'bla bla and all that...
But, whoa....when I pray in tongues before I see group...I become some Superwoman...
so happy, clear, so much more loving, listening, I dunno what to say...
Me, on a supernatural 'pill'.

Whassup with 'that'? I dunno...but is really something...once is one thing...
but, every time...

Actually it's not. Have another look at the tail end of verse 26.

Romans 8
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

"Cannot be uttered" is a clear indication that this passage is not about speaking in tongues.

.

Early in my walk I strove for this gift, went to a Pentecostal Church, went forward many time's, never spoke in the Holy Tongue, BUT fasted for a Preacher, when he was going to Teach on what a Blood Covenant was, just before He came up to give this Teaching, I was Praying for the Spirit to be involved with Him, and I began to Grown, just Grown, not saying words, this to me was how the Spirit intervened through prayer that day.

You sound just like a previous Forum member who went by the name of SWORD.

You may be on to something here.

Sword's last post was Nov. 11th. Ally's 1st post was on the 12th.

I've seen people do this in other forums. It would so funny if it turned out to be true. Gonna have to keep an eye on him.

Thanks for the laugh...

What was the groaning like? Was it akin to someone punching you in the stomach or is there no comparison for it?

Sorry disagree 100%
Walking in the Spirit can only be done in and through the Holy Spirit...which also means by hearing from the Spirit. As God leads and guides.

I agree with @Stranger ...we can pray in the Spirit with or without the use of tongues. "In the Spirit" also means by hearing, not just tongues.
This is what I believe and what my experience is.
We can also "speak in The Spirit"...either when preaching or counselling...we find we are speaking right to a situation or maybe a person...not from our own wisdom, but His wisdom flowing through our mouth.
In Ref to OP. I have been in many a prayer meeting when I have groaned inwardly and muttered- " Dear Lord make them shut up" ...many people like the sound of their own voices, and do not have a clue how to pray with one ear tuned to what God's Spirit is praying through us.....Those are the prayers that get answered.

Not saying that God does not answer our carnal "panic-prayers"....just saying that there is a world of difference here.

My two cents....Helen
How do you pray in the spirit?

I pray everyday in the Spirit, in English, sometime throw in some Italian, or a french word here or there. I always understand what I am saying and what I hear in the Spirit. I do not see the need for indistinguishable babble.

How do you know you praying in the spirit? Do you have any scriptures?

I never did either...tho, I will admit I was very curious what the heck this spk
in tongues was...I am glad it happened to me...did I need it? I don't think so. :)

I know Ally might be unhappy with that ...but, I was fine without it...my connection and love was extraordinary.

I believe in the gift of tongues as scripture tells. But much of what goes on today is nonsense.

Hence, why I do not concentrate on this false gift of tongues.
Well, being a newbie in it... I definitely don't exp it as false.
But, if you do ...right on.
Move on to what does interest you, I say. :)
Be happy ...enjoy.

So let me get this straight, Paul tells us to strive for the spiritual gifts...... yet you do not even fully embrace Christianity. You have some pretty non Christian convictions that any true Christian can see..... this based on the basic tenets of the faith which you stray from. So, you do not strive yet profess to have experienced this gift? Highly doubt it!

What is a "true" Christian?

I do not accept the "trinity". One of "the basic tenets of the faith". Am I now not a "true" Christian?

I am sure there is much you would find by which you would also make the same said "judgment(s)" of myself.

"Judgment" is all too easy.

Now, show me how you do "mercy" and walk humbly with your "God".

Mic 6:8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth YHVH require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Ecc 12:13 This is the end of the matter; all hath been heard: fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

I do not doubt some spirit came upon you, as for it being the Holy Spirit, no way! Faith without deeds is dead. To strive means:
strive
strīv/
verb
verb: strive; 3rd person present: strives; past tense: strove; past tense: strived; gerund or present participle: striving; past participle: striven
  1. make great efforts to achieve or obtain something.
"national movements were striving for independence"
    • struggle or fight vigorously.
      "scholars must strive against bias"
synonyms: try (hard), attempt, endeavor, aim, venture, make an effort, exert oneself, do one's best, do all one can, do one's utmost, labor, work; More
      informalgo all out, give it one's best shot, pull out all the stops;
      formalessay
"I shall strive to be virtuous"
struggle, fight, battle, combat campaign, crusade"scholars must strive against bias"
    • 1 Corinthians 14:11-13King James Version (KJV)
11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

You neither are zealous or excel . You do not edify the church. You are actually very unfaithful to the Lord. You have NO Christian conviction.
    • ed·i·fy·ing
      ˈedəˌfīiNG/
      adjective
      adjective: edifying
      1. providing moral or intellectual instruction.
        "edifying literature"
      zeal·ous
      ˈzeləs/
      adjective
      adjective: zealous
      having or showing zeal.
"the council was extremely zealous in the application of the regulations"
      synonyms: fervent, ardent, fervid, fanatical, passionate, impassioned, devout, devoted, committed, dedicated, hard-core, enthusiastic, eager, keen, overkeen, avid, card-carrying, vigorous, energetic, intense, fierce;
      literaryperfervid
      "a zealous worker"
You have none of this For Christ. Any Christian reading your post can clearly see that. I stamp your claim counterfeit!

It was more like grieving. as if there was a feeling for a lost loved one, kinda like when a person would weep, not as when there is sadness, hard to explain! I remember the Teaching, it has helped me understand the depth of God's covenant with Abraham. as I write about this, the grieving was about the truth, that many miss, and the loss of understanding. A blood covenant was as extreme as one could go in Ancient times. A contract between Two, ether men or king's, in this case God and Abraham. most people have no clue what took place between God and Abraham. read for yourself! Genesis Chap 15-9-18 notice only God walked through the Blood!

I know of someone who says he had a similar experience to yours. He said he was just sitting on his couch watching a movie, and suddenly, this intense feeling came over him that kind of made him double over and weep like a little wimp, as if he was grieving. With it came this inner peace, which is to say a far cry from what I see from many who was presumably "touched by the spirit" who role around on the floor foaming at the mouth screaming at the top of their lungs like a bunch of lunatics.
