I was a little hesitant in replying to this post directed toward "slackers", but what the hay, here goes.
With the washing over of salvation, you don't need it again and again. You can't be born again, again and again.
1 John 1:7, But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Cleansed by the blood of Jesus and the need to be washed by the Word, continually.
Ephesians 5:25-26, Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
Aaaah, the living water, John 7:38, Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them."
Footwashing is needed if you sit with God in heavenly places because the devil is under your feet, the only place he can reach, tossing garbage at you, such as, "you are partly saved", "you can lose your salvation", "you were never saved in first place", "you're a filthy sinner", "God doesn't love you". Shake the dust off your feet, the garbage, and get your feet washed. The foot-washing doesn't save you, the blood does that and you are cleaned through words spoken to you, hearing about Jesus, washed by the Word.
John 13:8-10, “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
Go ahead, wash someone's feet today, share the Good News and talk about Jesus.
John 13:14, "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet."
I'll start.
Ephesians 1:13, And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
Ephesians 2:8, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God
2 Timothy 2:13, if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
Romans 11:29, for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.
Do your feet feel squeaky clean?
John 13:7, Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand."
