So obeying the Word of God is offensive to you?
Does "If you have given a cup of water to the least of these in my name...…" mean that each cup of water given would be a useless kindness in God's eyes, meaning nothing, if you did not also say that you "were doing this in Jesus' name" as you proffered the water?

So why not just keep it Scriptural? Why accept a substitute? Why do it another way? How do you come to the conclusion that God is just going to accept it? Because in the Scripture I read

Acts 4:10-12
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

No other Name whereby you must be saved!

So why not get baptised in His Name? It is direct disobedience to the Word of God.

I honestly have no idea what you are trying to argue about.

There is nothing in this post to me , from you...that I disagree with.

So what is your argument?

You sound very angry!!

WHO are you mad at?
WHO did not get baptized in water, once ?
I did.

But, that being said.
If you are trying to have an argument about baptism.
I have read that many great men who were used of God...did not get baptised in water.

The thief on the cross did not get baptised in water...
MANY death bed conversions did not get baptised in water.

Please stop being so angry and just calmly explain yourself and your thoughts.

Bless you.

You know, I knew right from the start that this thread would end up being a discussion
about being baptized in Jesus Name or being baptized in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

It took me reading a few posts before I "got there too."

Amadeus probably knew right away...he used to be Oneness.
Friends of ours tried to get us re-baptised. But as Jesus told us Himself that "the Father and I are One"...we could not see any reason for all the hype.

Oh, and what about the rest of the Word of God? Do you even have a Bible? Have you ever read it? Because you definitely don't believe it. Do you believe Acts 2:38?

And what is that name that you want to say with your mouth as you are dunking a person in water [H2O]?
Is it Jesus, or Jehoshua or Yeshua or Jesu? Should it be pronounced as in English or as in Greek or as in German or as in Hebrew or...etc?
If a deaf mute is doing the dunking, should he let the person sink while he spells out J.E.S.U.S with his hands? The key is not in the physical word spoken but the being IN His name. Perhaps the following verse will help you understand better what it means to "in the name":

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matt 18:20

We attend a UPC once and awhile.
I know what's going on.
I'm just happy that not all UPC churches are the same.
Some are very legalistic others not so much.

Christianity is in bad shape because a "Oneness Pastor" told a friend of mine he was not allowed to preach without a tie.
Because the Christian world ignores what is written in God's Word and this topic is the perfect example of that.
