Is the Scripture wrong then? If not, have you obeyed it? If not, why not?

It stares you right in the face. You don't need a degree to understand Acts 2:38 and Matthew 28:19

    It comes down to obedience

    @Small Fish

I am sorry for you brother.
you joined this Site just a couple of days ago.
And right from the get-go you stated throwing legalism about ... condemning me for going into bars and pubs with the gospel of the Good News. In many bars we went into we bumped into the Salvation Army going in or coming out... Yet somehow you turned this into a disgusting thing that my husband and I were doing...

This was all in your FIRST FEW POSTS on this Site.
    Not a very good start.
As @Triumph1300 said in a post here.
You say things about @Willie T without out even knowing him. Or reading all his many posts.
You say things about me, without knowing my heart or reading any of my previous posts.

Who but an ignorant man walks into a house knowing no one or what they stand for ...and starts condemning the people who are in that house.

He makes himself look foolish and very rude indeed .

So from where some of us sit...it looks like you only joined this Site looking for trouble and wanting to "sort people out".
    Shame on you.

Why not take a deep breath and try starting again , drop all the condemning ...and try to find out "where people are"..before jumping to conclusions about everyone.

And Jesus beating the money changers out of the temple? Looking upon them with anger!
And not gifts, you mean attributes. Or fruits if you will.

I spent 11 years within the Oneness, Jesus Only churches so I do know what he intends, but he is looking only at the literal without considering the spiritual part. They put a strong emphasis on saying the words as spoken during the water baptism by Peter here:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38

In other words for baptism say: "I baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins".

Nothing wrong with that, but the words alone without being IN the name spiritually can be meaningless as per my example of using the name of Jesus in a bar room as a curse word.

I agree. It is so hard to tell the difference alot of times, until you really get to know the church

    I have news for you:
Don't compare yourself to Jesus Christ.

And you are not in the temple, you are on a forum.
Getting angry will get you no where and certainly will not convert anybody to your ideas of thinking.

But if it is put in front of you and you have the chance, why not do it.

And what does being baptised in water mean? I've heard of people baptising others in water in their own names. Do you think that is acceptable?

God is fed up with this wishy washy christianity.

But don't get angry simply because someone disagrees with you. If you are absolutely certain that you are always right on every point and that your opponents are absolutely wrong on every point and you are absolutely certain that God wants you to get angry with them then go ahead. Remember that none of us here are Jesus who never sinned and never made a mistake and who always acted in perfect compliance with His Father's will. This includes me and it includes you.

    Thank you John
I had hoped that you would step in a clarify it a bit.

It is the anger that I do not understand.
But then again...in my 53 years of being a Christian I have to sadly say that legalists of often angry....they want everyone to toe the line. "Their line" ....

The Word without the Spirit brings forth death. :(

In Afrikaans it's "Here Jesus Christus", in English it is the "Lord Jesus Christ", in latin or Hebrew it might be pronounced different but He is known in every tongue. So what's your point?

The first UPC attended was where I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It is where I first spoke in tongues in 1976. It was where I was taught to read the Bible for the first time in my life. I have been reading it ever since.

Yet... in that same assembly when I was completely ignorant of the Bible and knew little about God, the pastor rebuked me in front of the whole congregation for asking him to please explain to me using the scriptures what authority he had as a pastor.

You were the one that said I don't act according to the "Gift". So what is acting according to the "Gift"? A reed shaken by the wind? Some spineless little someone to scared to stand with God's Word between those who butcher Him with their unbelief?

Angry because people don't agree with me, I couldn't care less. But when we are finished, for once in your life you would have heard the truth. What you do with it afterwards is up to you.

The anger if it is the anger which Jesus had because those should know better how to please God flagrantly do not, that is one thing. To get angry because someone disagrees with our beliefs is very much another. People with little resemblance to Jesus in so many things want to excuse their actions by His. Who of us is already completely as Jesus was when He walked planet Earth as a man about 2000 years ago? Not me!

So, if you have the Holy Ghost then getting baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ as the Scripture says, should be a real honor.

Do you not believe the Bible? Then why not do it?

This is not your pulpit where only you are allowed to speak. If you speak just to be civil to show the charity about the Apostle Paul wrote you also need to really pay attention to what the other person is saying. You believe that you are right... but so does he.

"Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts." Prov 21:2

Exactly! So why then ignore that Scripture?

I'm giving you people the chance to look at God's Word and test your own experience with it. I challange you, take a look, see if it is not right. Or prove me wrong. Scripturaly.
