Has anyone here heard about Christian prepping? I read about this awhile back on Christian Forums and was surprised Christians actually do this, prepping for Tribulation. I think it is a good idea to be prepared, but it is hard enough to actually keep an emergency fund back, besides thinking about bomb shelters, places to hide for Christian persecution, etc. I would have to trust God to protect me and my family as I always have. But does anyone have any insight on this? Is there anything we should do to be preparing for this time? Because it can't be getting any farther away. I do believe in the rapture, but believe perhaps it could be right before the Great Tribulation. Besides that, I am trying to pray for anxious thoughts and give them to God, but some days I think the United States is fixing to break out in some sort of war. My generation hasn't really seen physical war on our side of the world besides 9/11.

Been there, done that.

We were in a Movement in which we all left our homes and went into the bush of northern BC. ( way up the Alaskan highway..and off 75 miles into the bush)
We built small communities ...some were 75 people ( the one we were on) some had 150 people etc etc...7 communities in all.

I can tell you that none us us ..I don't care who they are...can self sustain. Some went the other way into South America ...five communities down there. There is nowhere to hide from the "beast system" .....
Do I have any regrets ...NO.
I learned a lot about human nature...I learned a lot about myself.
And, just like the Children of Israel of old...We can leave Egypt or Babylon...but it does not leave us!! It is in us, we take it with us.

Looking after this skin is of no value.
Don't get caught up with the "prep" spirit...because that is what it is.
God's children are not in a physical battle to survive , but a spiritual one.
PEACE not any fall-out shelter, is your hiding place.

I can tell you Mayflower....however much food you store it will not ever be enough. Plus ...it will just be stolen from you by others.

Been there, done that...and I am now decades older and wiser.

HE IS OUR HIDING PLACE. :)

Relax and be blessed.
"You" is not your flesh body..."you" is who lives inside that body. xx

Yep...got it in one... :D

No regrets.
Some 'came out of it ' bitter and twisted...but many of us are still in contact and know that " A good man's steps are ordered of the Lord."

If we stay flexible to His Spirit...God can bless us and teach us wherever we are.

The God who can teach through a donkey can do all things well. :)

Wow Helen! How long ago was that? That is very interesting. What did y'all do? Why did you decide to go?

And I completely agree with you!!!! God called us to tell the world about Christ, not hide away and isolate. I am a stay at home mom though, and my hubby works at a factory. So we couldn't save much to run anyway. :D but I know for the y2k scare, my mom filled every jug and pitcher in the house with water and stored up can goods. Part of me wonders if this is wise. But I think if a nuclear bomb hit, we would need God to help us through that anyway. I'd much rather be with Jesus anyway when bombs hit or the Tribulation comes. Though we very well be in it now.

Very True, I know a man that was a logistics, person in the military [ Procurement and movement, of people and supplies] and He said at best a group of people could last up to 18 months, maybe longer???
I believe that if the time come's and it will, there will be chosen Men of God that will be able to keep us through Mobil defense, kinda like when God told Moses, lets move, and this is just My Opinion,OK } If they are looking for us, all we can do is stay one step ahead of them! With the Help Of God.
We have a supply of food, but like is has been said how long will it last! We don't have a storage locker full, but some for Emergencies, with rationing maybe a month! Any way there will be a weight loss movement going on! LOL!

Preparing for world wide whatever, is not unlike preparing for winter or good health.

But whether we do well or fail completely, our life and salvation are in God's hands. The difference may simply be whether or not we prolong the time to serve God in bringing more people to the saving knowledge of Christ. That is the great commission of the saved, and certainly it is good news during such times of trouble.

In other words, we do not prepare for our own life...because we have already given it to Christ. But we prepare to do good works.

Ideally everyone should be prepared for any and all emergencies, including an emergency fund. But not because of the Tribulation, but because it denotes wisdom. We are told to learn lessons from other creatures.

PROVERBS 30
24 There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

I knew members of the LDS church who built pantries that would contain food storage that would last 7 years....I don't know for sure if this is the only church that does this but it was a "wow" moment for me when I first saw how committed they were to doing this.

Yes this so, I lived in LDS prominent area, They not only stockpile food supply's but are also well Armed. About 2007 the Bishop's started to give advice to be more discreet about their food storage, as to not be broken into, or taken by storm, violence!

This kind of "implies" that they don't believe in the pre-trib rapture.....but not trying to derail the thread just an observation I made back then...and honestly I am not a pre-trib rapture person myself.

lol......but we already have that today....the walking dead! Dead to the belief in Jesus as the Messiah! o_O
Amen! But...

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.\" Matt 6:33-34

LDS person clarifying things here: LDS theology and culture to emphasize being good stewards of our physical things and trying to be generally able to take care of yourself / your family. Obviously we do occasionally fall down and need help, but it is a good thing to trying to live within your means.

To better handle the rough bumps when they come along, historically there was a push to have some money savings account and to have some food saved/stored at home. So if you suddenly lost your job (for example), you weren't completely broke and have nothing to eat that night. You'd have a rainy day fund to help you through those hard times till you found another job.

How extensive of a savings is something that's varied person to person and through time/space. For the last 20 years are so the emphasis has been not really on physically storing food and instead more about having a savings account, and and much more about living within your means. Things like avoiding credit card debt, getting a good education, etc.

This kind of "implies" that they don't believe in the pre-trib rapture.....but not trying to derail the thread just an observation I made back then...and honestly I am not a pre-trib rapture person myself.
LDS beliefs on end-times doesn't include a "Taken" style rapture.
