Some do not have the gift of the Holy Ghost. Why is it that everybody who has a bible often arrives at a different 'truth'?
I can accept the deity of Christ to a point, but that would take some explaining. I certainly don't accept the trinitarian view that he is equal to the Father.Things like "The Deity of Christ" are essential to salvation.
Well I'm not a Pentecostal. So it depends what you mean? Do I believe the Holy Spirit is the same person as Jesus and God. Absolutely not. I have the holy spirit in the same measure most people do who confess Christ as their Savior. Some do not have the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Welcome MSL....an open mind and a person that loves to search scripture....not to start off a liiitle neg although I am just adding on to your words. Why is it that everybody who has a bible often arrive at a different 'truth'? Possessing a bible doesn't mean we have the truth, we have to discover it by putting some effort into it. Simple truths are what saves us. Christ life, death, and resurrection are simple truths we believe enables us to have eternal life. Things like 'Trinity' are meaningless to eternal life.
Jeremiah 29:13 is an excellent verse to hearken and heed to.Well I'm not a Pentecostal. So it depends what you mean? Do I believe the Holy Spirit is the same person as Jesus and God. Absolutely not. I have the holy spirit in the same measure most people do who confess Christ as their Savior.
yes our friends bol and mm, sure a good example of scripture interpreting itself, such foolishness as are all the gazzilion religions based upon just thatWelcome MSL....an open mind and a person that loves to search scripture....not to start off a liiitle neg although I am just adding on to your words.
You will find many here that are pots themselves, calling kettles black. Many do not allow scripture to interpret itself. And many do not understand the scripture under study. They add in scripture from other areas to fit their theories including the trinity concept. It does become quite chaotic at times.
Bless you,

Well if Jesus is Gods word, which proceedeth forth from Gods mouth, dont you think His word should be equal to Him...I can accept the deity of Christ to a point, but that would take some explaining. I certainly don't accept the trinitarian view that he is equal to the Father.
And Matthew 16:23 shows that Peter was in FACT Satan. There is one Lord (Ephesians 4:5). The Father is the Lord of heaven and earth (Matthew 11:25, Luke 10:21). Jesus is the Lord (1 Corinthians 12:3, 1 Corinthians 8:6).
There is one Lord (Ephesians 4:5). The Father is the Lord of heaven and earth (Matthew 11:25, Luke 10:21). Jesus is the Son of God (1 John 4:15, 2 John 1:3).
I'm going to leave the Holy Spirit out of this one (as a subject matter--). It is clear that He is a member of the Godhead.
The scriptures above show that the Son both is the Father; and is not the Father.
Jeremiah 29:13 is an excellent verse to hearken and heed to.
Glad to see I'm on your mind even when I am not involved in the conversation. Your always thinking of me and @BreadOfLife .......it's so cute.....yes our friends bol and mm, sure a good example of scripture interpreting itself, such foolishness as are all the gazzilion religions based upon just that

Jesus said,
"Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."
Jesus speaks what the Father wants him to speak. If he was equal to God, he would not have said,
"Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I."
"My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."
Yes, Jesus emptied Himself of the attributes of Deity so that He could be our perfect example of what it means to be obedient through dependence on the Holy Spirit. He became a Man; and in taking on the nature of human flesh He submitted Himself to finite boundaries of limitation as a human being.
Yes, Jesus was equal with God, according to the testimony of John under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (John 5:18).
It is a doctrine called the hypostatic union. Jesus was, and is, 100% God and 100% Man, He is the Son of man and He is the Son of God. In His Deity He is equal to the Father (you might even see me posit that He is the Father); but in His humanity He is less than the Father, since He is confined to a human body and therefore could not retain either Omniscience nor Omnipresence: and He also emptied Himself of His Omnipotence in that every miracle He did, He did in reliance on the Father and did nothing in His own strength; in order that He might set an example for us on how to live the Christian life.
Interesting that you left out the context of that, John 10:30.
Well it seems that the pharisees always get upset,Jesus said,
"Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."

What do you mean by "scripture interpreting itself" when referring to us Catholics?
Curious Mary
The Pharisees believed that because Jesus said God was his Father, to them, that made him equal to God. Jesus never said he was God, never said he was equal to God, and he is never called God the son.Well it seems that the pharisees always get upset,
Joh_5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
Yep and yet here you say Gods word ids not equal to God, so by your own words, you are saying that once Gods word leaves His mouth they become worthless...The Pharisees believed that because Jesus said God was his Father, that made him equal to God. Jesus never said he was God and he is never called God the son.
I don't believe the Pharisees.
After the Pharisees said that, that's when Jesus rebuked them and replied...
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Jesus uses the word Father 14 times in Chapter 5. Over and over again in the NT he proves his subordination to the Father.
To say Jesus is equal to God has an overwhelming number of contradiction problems. I go with the least contradictory interpretation. There is no such thing as a Trinity. Triads of Gods existed in several cultures. The Babylonians, Sumerians, Hindu's and others had triads of Gods. Christianity just followed suit!Yep and yet here you say Gods word ids not equal to God, so by your own words, you are saying that once Gods word leaves His mouth they become worthless...
