Buddhism is becoming more popular in the West than ever before - even within Christian circles. buddhists claim that Buddhism is a philosophy, not a religion. A core belief is that attachment to illusion is the cause of suffering.

Is this contrary to Christianity? Harmful to a persons walk with Christ? Incompatible with Christianity?

Verses and discussion, please

Incompatible with Christianity?
Is Buddhism idolatrous with Gautama Buddha being seen as a god? If so that should be enough.

"Like all false religions, Buddhism contradicts itself. Clearly, Buddha is the founder and god of Buddhism. Serving any god other than the true God is sinful (Leviticus 19:4, Deuteronomy 28:14, Hosea 4:17, Acts 15:20, I Corinthians 8:5-6, I Corinthians 10:14, and I John 5:21), resulting in the losing of one’s soul (Romans 6:23). While Buddhism claims to be a religion of spirituality, idolatry is truly a service to one’s carnal desires (Galatians 5:19-21). Those seeking enlightenment through Buddha are being duped into serving a false god."

Exposing Buddhism (Part 1)

Worship in Mahayana tradition takes the form of devotion to Buddha and to Bodhisattvas.

Christianity revolves around Jesus who said that he was 'The Life, the TRUTH and the Way. This is totally incompatable with the budhist idea of illusion.

Jesus is reality, just as life, pain, joy are all real.
What aafect doe illusion have on the poor and dieing?
Christianity offers hope in this lifes troubles as well as in the next, something budhism cannot do.

It's totally incompatible....Buddhism is the epitome of self focus. It fits hand in glove with the carnal nature.

is it impossible for a Buddhist to be considered accepted then?
Why do we imagine that God expects us to pick the correct religion in order to be accepted?
Bc some guy who signed a Contract for Jesus told you so? lol, ok

let Me tell you that many shall come from east and west and recline with Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob in the Kingdom of heaven

We are expected to pick the right God.

Buddhism has no supreme being as God.

i'm at a loss to think of any Buddhist concepts that could not be compared with Christ's Words. "Christianity" is not specific enough for me to comment tho. But I do know several thoughtful ppl who seem to find no conflict in pursuing both disciplines fwiw

Things have changed a lot from the Old Testament to now, including God's revelation.
so you say, but imo very little has actually changed--while God certainly has not--and it seems to me that you are intent on insisting that only Christians will be accepted, when I already know better

The body of Christ is composed of the coheirs of Israel and church, meaning the Saints in both.

There are also those saved who came to God before Israel existed and those who could not hear the gospel or the message of Israel but came to God per the law of conscience.

But the religions of today that do not accept the biblical God are not going to be save unless they change and repent.

The Pope says there are many paths to God through many religions.

There is no such thing as many paths to God.

The Bible is quite clear there is only one path to salvation and that is the biblical Christ.

but you get to define Christ too, right? lol

so, like I said, no offense, but why don't you put this same energy to use determining which one of you is incorrect, up there, ty

The Bible and the Holy Spirit define Christ, not me.

I did that years ago by researching the teachings of many religions.

wadr pseudo-Enoch insists that there is, so maybe I could suggest another episode of Duelling Arbitrators here :D
and the rather disturbing overtones of Catholic "penance" in your post i'll just ignore for now

Pseudo-Enoch?
That book has no credibility.

Enoch lived pre-flood. There is no such thing as a written copy of what he said. We also do not know if his words were ever written or if they've always been orally transmitted. Or if only selected quotes were passed on.

My comment on Catholicism is nothing but fact.
