That depends on wheter he was right or not.

Lets repeat this whole silly saga again.

Act 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

So here Jesus is telling them there is a change coming, and again,

.......SKIPS ACTS 2:38....

Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Act 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

Baptism in not or ever was a requirement for salvation, because before Christ death no man could be saved, baptized or not, after His resurrection, all who "believe" will be saved, end of story.

And I dont have to shout...
You just admitted Peter was wrong at Pentecost, which makes his boss culpable for giving him the keys in Matt 16.

Great, just great.

Oh, Why did you skip posting and explaining Acts 2:38?

I doubt if Peter would appreciate your redefining of his words per Acts 2:38.
I can see someone getting away with misrepresenting Trumps phone call, but not Peter’s words answering the 3000 at Pentecost.
I’ll bet he would appreciate it. We agree as far as I can see. But either way, I don’t worship nor pray to Peter. I’ll leave that to others.

What was it Jesus said to Peter,

Mar_8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

You really debunked the day of Pentecost this time.
“I just knew Jesus blew it giving Peter the keys.....shoulda given them to John”

So, you obey Jesus and not Peter?

Okay. Well remember where Peter got the keys.
The one that knew the future, right?

Yes Jesus is the one with the truth not Peter, Jesus is the only way, in Him is our life and salvation, not Peter. Peter is not God nor is He Christ, and He cannot save anyone.

You pit Jesus against Peter. You pit Peter against Jesus.
Not a good Christian foundation to teach.
Repercussions are countless with this doctrine.
All because you disobey Acts 2:38.
It would be easier to obey Acts 2:38 than teach a doctrine that debunks Pentecost, then Acts 2:38, 4:12, 8, 10:46-48 and 19:5-7

Jesus is the way. Not Peter. But this is a deflection. Repent, be immersed in The Name of Jesus and receive the Holy Ghost. Be baptized in His name. Not in water. The water doesn’t become Jesus here. If being immersed in Jesus wasn’t the point and water was, Peter would’ve just said “be baptized everyone of you and receive......”. But he knew they needed to know who Jesus was. Water baptism won’t get you to a better understanding of who He is.

wadr you instigate that by insisting on misrepresenting Matthew 16:19 Lexicon: "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." to mean that Peter himself personally got anything from Jesus, when the text does not say that?

"I tell you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build..." becomes a way to deceive you, and allow you to infer what you desire, rather than truth, see. "Lets just make Peter that rock then" right? "Even though it contradicts so much Scripture, that i am obv not aware of."

Peter was not that rock. The statement he made about Jesus was.
And yes, Peter was clearly given the keys.
It was not a coincidence that Peter was the one used to deliver the message of how to be saved at Pentecost.
It was intentional.

Did the Church begin with John the Baptist in the wilderness, when Peter received the keys in Matt 16 or Romans 10:9(something like that)?

If not, please explain the actual account, when and where it began.

Thanks.

@marks - OP
Ephesians 4
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Romans 6
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

According to these Scriptures, there is One Baptism, and that is being baptized into Christ.

What we call "being baptized in the Holy Spirit" I believe is actually what the Bible calls being filled with the Holy Spirit, which is something that the Holy Spirit does with us at various times in our lives.

But there is no "second benefit" as some would say, meaning that we, being children of God, lack the power of God until we are baptized in the Holy Spirit.

We are baptized into Christ, the actual baptism, and we are empowered by God being reborn. We aren't waiting for something more from God, we only need believe that He has already given us everything needed for life and godliness.

Much love!

I suppose you are right about that. If you would like, start it and I will meet you there or visa versa?

Sadly I think Mark has opted out....I haven't seen him for a while. I know he was struggling with all the arguing and rudeness on here...I hate it when good kind people leave and we get ugly rude people in their place.

@Pisteuo

The Mark I was talking about in my post above was "Marks"...but when I saw your "like" I was reminded that 'our Mark'... @bbyrd009 is noticeable by his absence ...he is not posting much at all these days ...or have I just missed his posts maybe.

We seem yo have an influx of new angry members that don't wish to discuss but just to dominate ...maybe he has pulled up his tent pegs for a while...and waiting for the wind to change 'back to normal' LOL
I too are missing the old comfortable discussions. :(

Hope you and all yours are well.
May 2020 be a wonderful and blessed year for you and yours . ✟

Thanks Helen for the clarification. I did a double take when I seen “Mark” in your post but then I think he posted afterwards. A lot of new names here for sure.

Hoping your health has improved from a few months ago. I visited for a while and didn’t see you on here at all. I don’t like to pry but think I read your health was an issue. Either way, I hope you are well.

You are only fooling yourself

Your doctrine says....

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and IMMERSE YOURSELF WITHOUT WATER in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were IMMERSED WITHOUT WATER: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were IMMERSED WITHOUT WATER, both men and women.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he WAS IMMERSED WITHOUT WATER.

47 Can any man IMMERSE THEMSELVES WITHOUT water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to IMMERSE THEMSELVES WITHOUT WATER in the name of the Lord.

4 Then said Paul, John verily IMMERSED WITHOUT WATER with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were IMMERSED WITHOUT WATER in the name of the Lord Jesus.
